Thank you to Mrs D Balhatchet of Wivlesfield Road , Saltdean.

What vision she has, inspiring even!! She alone has saved our club.

She asks this amazing question:

'Why has no one thought of enlarging and enhancing Withdean Stadium?'

Quick everybody get on the phone and let Dick Knight know of this.

At last we are saved!!! :lolol: :lolol:

This is incredible. I simply cannot BELIEVE how we have all overlooked this glaringly obvious solution. What a waste of 6 years of planning, when the answer was staring us in the face all along. Expand Withdean. Its brilliance is in its sheer simplicity.
As soon as I have finished typing this, I have the back of an envelope which I will shortly be using to design the 2nd and 3rd tiers to be built on top of the existing North Stand. We can place a series of deck chairs on the grass banks behind the West goal, and in the sand pit. Cushions around the running track. A huge tarpaulin can be tied to the trees in the nature reserve, and pulled down over the South Stand. At last, we'll finally have a stadium fit for the 21st Century.

And its all thanks to Mrs D Balhatchet of Wivelsfield Road, Saltden. Mrs D - I salute you. Now, on with these plans...

Vote this woman on to the City planning committee immediately!

While we're on the subject- has anyone ever thought about renovating that large derelict iron structure that sticks out into the sea about half a mile west of the Palace Pier? I've often thought somebody should consider doing something about it.

;)

Next week: Why has no one thought of building igloos to solve the Sahara housing shortage?

Desert Orchid - Mrs Balhatchet and I would appreciate some quiet on this issue. We are currently working on prototype 1,274,576 but have yet to file for a patent yet, so ssssssssh!

An idea that might have had some merit had it not involved flattening the nature reserve, pub, crèche and children's play area, relocating the city's park-and-ride site (though no one seems to know where to), relocating the local athletics clubs (though no one seems to know where to) and bringing the main London to Brighton rail line to a standstill while a bridge was rebuilt.
Tch. Hardly insurmountable problems for a provincial club to solve. Is your name Hoile or something ?

It's all our own fault anyway. We should never have left the Goldstone...

God, if we had thought about this earlier we need never have left Hove ... we could have just moved across the road from the Goldstone and built a new ground on that park almost opposite!???

Her phone number is readily available.

I am tempted to ring her and 'offer' her a job as a town planner.

By the way her first name is Delysia - Deluded would have been more apt.
