Its not your state, is it?
well done your mother and her friend. what a lovely tale.
it bothers me because who cares that they're gay? why should we care? well done, you're homosexual.. don't have a party, just get on with it. i don't get half naked and party all day long once a year with like minded people because i'm straight.
you're little "theory" on security and insecurity is pathetic.
most people have an issue because no one cares anymore that there is gays, when gays act like civilised human beings there is nothing wrong whatsoever. this type of special day to celebrate homosexuality is a very large part of what is wrong with fashionable over the top "political correctness"
and you can stick your freud and your A level psychology book up your arse (pardon the pun) you moron
Economic & Social Research Institute, yes.
Explain to me why the state would have reason to twist the results of a sexual health survey...
I'm gay, so I've had plenty of experience thank you.
Thanks for the a level compliment at GCSE level, but i'll take that as a compliment.
So minorities shouldn't celebrate? So, prosuming you do, why do you chant at brighton matches ' we are brighton from the south', who cares if you support brighton, don't have a party just get on with it...
Perhaps I haven't given you credit, maybe you are, as you say, fine with it. However, it's clear society is not. homophobic attacks are rising and kids still don't feel they can come out - this sort of thing lets them see it isn't just them all alone and that they can be proud to be what they are.
You also talk of 'acting civilised' and about nakedness. So what about page 3 models and girls you see walking down the street is barely anything!?!? If they're allowed to do, why aren't the gay population...!?
Sorry, I've been out with mates all day.
Probably a concept you're not familiar with, judging from the fact you've been here all day. Maybe it's time to ask the big question, why?
Anyway, people constantly go on about how ' if we had a straight person march etc etc etc'. And in all honesty, I used to be oen of them. I used to say ' if we had a white mans march they'd be so many protests against it' etc. But would there? Has anyone ever actually tried it?
Blaiming them for disease is absolutely ridiculous! If you want to blaim any group for the spread of sexual disease surely it is the Catholic church! But even that would be ridiculous.
The funny thing it, many of you don't in fact have arguments whatsoever. You'll make sweeping statements, then when someone brings a REAL experience or someone who knows first hand, you'll take the mick because of their experiences, which clearly make them gay.
So either your statement are completely un-grounded (most likely) or you have had experiences which you are ashamed of.
Because it's still thought of as a negative! The general attitude, that I've experienced and know of, is one of ' oh, poor you'.in what way is society not ok with homosexuality? name one way in which the majority do not accept homosexuality.
well why would they be confident about coming out? kids get bullied about everything in school, and of course kids at school, when they are immature pick on any sign of weakness, and that would be seen as one.
im sure you see bullying of all types whilst eating your little sarnie on lunch break.
there is always a minority in society who do not act in a civilised manner. for example, page 3 models, mincers, homophobes, racists, hippes (see that covers all corners)
people chant brighton, because they are supporting their team, and their is a certain level of rivalry and competition between different clubs. i am also proud of being from brighton. there is no need to be proud of being gay, if it such a normal thing nowadays.. im not proud of being straight, but i am proud about where im from and my football team
Except that this is a report primarily written by a PhD student/RA who is working on a thesis on aclohol & safe sex. The state has been lnown to manipulate quite a few studies and insist on changes or even halt publication when they don't like the results.
SeagullEd, what exactly is your side of the argument? I don't understand what you're trying to say.
Are you simply voicing your support for gay pride?
No its not... Its a state survey, written by three people - two fully qualified researchers from Royal College of Surgeons and the health programme director of ESRI. Where did you manage to make that crap up from? Its also not on alcohol and safe sex, its on sexual health and relationships.
So, two things from the off. Were you looking at the same survey? Appeears not.
Because it's still thought of as a negative! The general attitude, that I've experienced and know of, is one of ' oh, poor you'.
Gay kids gets it much much worse though. Nope, can't saay I do see much bullying because I think the term 'bullying' is so overused it is unreal. Unkindness is not bullying.
But the thing is, the gay communtiy perhaps do not think others percieve them as being normal. In my opinion, I don't think people think of homosexuality as 'normal' whatsoever.
Of course they can be proud of being gay! why not!? It's an aspect to their personality, to who they are! In much the same way that my hetersexuality and my support of Brighton are only 2 aspects of my personality, and yes I'm proud of both.
But I'm lucky enough to be in a position where I don't feel my hetersexuality is an issue whatsoever, I live in a society where that is considered the 'norm' and I am a confident person. But I can say 100% that if I was gay it would be another story. I do have a very supportive fantastic family, a strong network of friends, go to a good school and live in a nice area - but even still I would feel threatened.
How you can deny that it's easier to be straight then gay I don't know!
No you just decided to take the piss and find humour over gay matters which is exactly how this thread started in the first place, Therefore your no different to any other so called homophobe who has done exactly the same.
From the link that you gave.

Actually, I was trying to make the more general point that the facts very much depend on the samples and their relevance hence I mentioned the Wilcoxon measure. Now, if you could cite a Cochrane review it would have much more weight.
I'd love to know what you think a "fully qualified researcher" is. Is there some body or organization that confers this status?
Yes, simplistically, that is what I'm trying to say.
But I'm also trying to get across how ridiculous homophobia really is and how wrong it is.
Sexual health and relationships now means sexual health and alcohol, which is what you said?
I think you'll find colleges, and the PhD you mentioned, confer the status of being 'fully qualified'.
You made stuff up about the survey without even taking a look at it, and now you're trying to edge around the issue. Its not about what you claimed it was about and the people who did it are neither students nor research assistants.
