to get promoted this year, then struggle again next year and get relegated again. Surely it would be better to get promoted at the end of next season, then we would have one season at Withdean in the Championship before moving to Falmer.

Yes - I'm sure that's the overall ideal plan.

Something the club couldn't admit to though if it were true, otherwise it would be accused of lack of ambition, and also crowds would be further down this season, as I think some supporters would likewise 'write it off'.

Look at the table.

The plan has to be to avoid relegation this season, and our current form suggests this will be a struggle.

OK,mock.But watch those results.

A proper manager would help.

Stop being so damned negative, especially on a Friday.

I can't see us getting in to serious relagation trouble, there are too many teams we are better than. I agree with scouse, there is little point in us going up to the Championship and then having to endure a season with very few victories for the fans to cheer about.

if the club isnt interested in getting promotion, then they are ripping off the fans even more than they already are

Quite. I'd much rather watch us play Tranmere, Hartlepool & Yeovil rather than Palace, Wolves or Southampton.

nope, i'd rather get promoted then struggle. but then i dont go to games week in week out to see us getting drubbed in the Championship. But its far more interesting than mid-table mediocrity and id certainly dont want excitment to come from us edging to towards League two...

I start every single season wanting promotion, realistic or not, and irrespective of whether we'd struggle the following season one division higher up.

What's the point of going to watch and support your team if you don't want the ulitimate prize?

I'm with Pasty on this one - you have to start each season chasing the prize....you can't run a club saying we don't want promotion this year because we'll get it next year - it just doesn't happen that way...Who knows what will happen every week, month or year....Now is the time...

Yes obviously every fan wants to see their club promoted, but i do remember the last season we had in the Championship where we finished bottom, it was sooo boring watching the opposition with the ball throughout every match.

Not going up wont be the end of the world as it gives us more time to strenghten and gets us playing better football next season, a season in the Championship next year would mean Dick having to spend big money if we wanna stay in that league.

As we all would. But I think the point he is trying to make is that if we have a succesful push for promotion coinciding with the opening of the Falmer stadium then we will be a much more popular entity rather than a team being relegated. You must see the logic dear boy!

promotion through the playoffs would be ideal gate receipts and tele rights would buy a couple of decent players plus the added tele rights in the championship would mean we can start to build the squad ready for falmer and hopefully in a few years a push towards the premiership

Yep, promotion all the way.

Otherwise as some one said earlier, what's the point of supporting a team?

Real world it may not happen, but we have to live the dream until it can't be done!
