#lcfc sack director of football Terry Robinson. Club unhappy with summer transfer business. Nigel Pearsons job not in danger at this stage.

Would you take this?

With Burke replacing Terry and Sami being given total control?

I'm sure the club will be employing another Director of Football.
I don't imagine for one minute they'll 'hand the keys' over to Pearson, so nothing will change.

The new bloke won't be 'perfect' in signings either, then what?

Saw a piece on Sky Sports yesterday, talking about how Alan Irvine's job at WBA is basically unworkable, as he has to work under Terry Burtons DOFship. Sounded extremely familiar, and all the 'experts/pundits' agreed it was a crap system.
Let's just hope that a certain TB can come round to this thinking too???

We don't know if they'll line up a replacement. But the situation at least seems to be dealt with to an extent. More so than sitting doing sweet FA like here.

Just for clarity, David Burke ISN'T a Director of Football.

He is Head of Football Operations. It is a different role.

People trying to reinvent the game ... same way as 442 is 'old fashioned' then so is a 'Manager'

Hopefully Leicester break the current trend ... or Harry wins the Prem :)

As far as I understand it, his stated responsibilities are not 'Sole Control over Transfers / Recruitment'. His job description is:

Managing the football aspects of the Club, on behalf of the Chairman working closely with the head coach and CEO, including:

Player and transfer negotiation.
Player budget
Player audits
Scouting and recruitment
Performance analysis
The Academy and player development
Player support services, education, welfare and liaison
Kit management
Women and girls elite football

My understanding is that a DoF does have control over playing budgets and recruitment. I don't believe that is David Burke's job description.

... with a (seemingly) unlimited budget

From what I've seen and read they do have a massive budget, but they're no longer a club that are overspending. They actually make money. Selling good players makes money for them. And their academy is churning out quality young talent what seems like weekly. That's the power of money when you were at or near the top when the money came in. Us other clubs trying to break into it will always struggle. They overspent at the start but are now on a steady and stable income stream.
