FT: Woking 3 Leicester 2

Leicester City had new signing John Curtis in their line-up against Woking but the free transfer signing from Blackburn was unable to prevent his new club slipping to defeat.

City were beaten 3-2 by the Nationwide Conference outfit.

I would imagine this would have been a reserve team surely, we managed to beat them easily and we played very badly against woking

On the subject of Leicester and the other promoted clubs.

Did we ever get our £100,000 from them as part of the "Gentleman's agreement" for the promoted clubs to pass their "winnings" on to the relegated sides.

The last I heard (back in June), they were reneging on the deal!

Annoying thing is, Dunno. You just know that Dick would have paid up if we were the promoted ones!

Call me naive, but so he should!

If any of the promoted clubs get relegated will they be refused re entry to the Nationwide until they pay (told you I was naive:nono: )

Leicester have had an AWFUL pre season the team that played us was similar to one that drew with a rubbish Bournemouth side and Scunthorpe (I think). We shouldn't get carried away with that result.

Don't think so. I don't think there was anything actually written down. It was a verbal agreement.

Usually I wish promoted teams well. Can't seem to do that this season. Mind you, I don't wish MA any harm. (It wasn't his fault!)

It's a disgraceful situation.

What's the point of making that agreement, verbal or otherwise, if the teams involved aren't going to honour it.

It is enforceable, if not by the football league then through the law courts.

A verbal agreement is as legally binding as a signed contract.

Leicester fans must be getting worried about next season, Losing to Brighton and Woking 3-2 in a week. Not good preparation for the new season being only a week away :(

If Leicester are a Nationwide League team in a years time, Mickey will be manager of newly promoted West Ham. But that won't apply anyway!

I'm not too worried yet, particularly as only Curtis from last night might start against the Saints. But ask me again after that Southampton game, I'll know more then. One game the last season City were in the Prem was all it took for us to know, as Bolton did us 4 or 5 nil at home.

So does anyone not think that the 3 promoted teams will come straight back down?

I've got a feeling Pompey might survive. The way Leeds are going they will go down - probably by Xmas!! - in fact if Reid keeps them up he'll be a hero! Wolves?? hmm not sure I don't think they are currently good enough to stay up. As for Leicester if anyone can get them fired up Micky can - but I'm not too sure about the quality of his various signings.

Reckon Leicester might just have enough about them to stay up - Micky's a top man, and you've signed some decent players. And Brooker. ;)

Also think Leeds are going to struggle, so they might go. Fulham too. Wolves and Pompey will deffo go, so realistically you've only got to finish above one of the strugglers to stay up.

Aside from the 3 promoted sides, here are the potential strugglers:
Bolton - with Okocha & Djouraeff, much better than all 3 promoted sides.
Charlton - may sign Rebrov but even if they don't they still have too much stength in depth.
Fulham - could struggle to be honest.
Leeds - sold all their best players, has Reid got the nouse?
Man City - is Keegan clueless. We'll see.
Middlesbrough - money will come to their aid if required
Southampton - as always, have stengthed just sufficently enough to avoid flirting with relegation.
Spuzz - I'd like to think they'll struggle, but it won't be for lack of goals.

So I reckon for any of the 3 promoted sides to stay up, they'll need to finish ahead of Fulham, Leeds, Man City or Bolton as well as Wolves and Pompey. 2 out of 3 will go down.

The thing is it wasn't made as an agreement but an unreciprocated offer so they are not leagally held liable.

Legal jargon would say that there is no reciprical "consideration "going from relegated clubs to the promoted ones.

Damn I'm clever.:flameboun

Simster, some unexpected teams in that list. How do you get Middlesborough in there? McClaren is much too good to let Middlesboro slip out of the Premiership. Of the others maybe Spurs is a bit of wishful thinking but won't argue with the others.
