While you two are congratulating each other on your stoicism and manliness, we either waded in or didn't give a stuff. Which was it? (The correct answer is neither).
You obviously didn’t go to Oxford then 🫤I was going then. Trouble was rare, and if it happened generally brief. I don't remember a single instance where it was started by Brighton fans when it did occur. Doubtless someone could point to the odd occasion. But Brighton was not renowned for having a 'firm'. Although some might have liked to have thought so. There was the famed 'West Street Gang' which seemed to consist of a mythological group of headhunters, but were probably a bunch of Ronnie Corbett sweatered teenagers who got a bit loud at times after too much Strongbow.
A bit like at Birmingham a few years back when I was walking back to the station. Now that was funny. A group of Brummy youths giving it the large to some pot bellied 40/50 something Albion fans who stopped to say hello. The kids were pleased there was a police line between them
Football is just weird. I'm not going to pretend I wasn't influenced to a small degree as a youngster, but harking back to it, or even being a part of it now is so lame.
If folk say the atmosphere is sanitised it's only because no-one is creating one.
Good Grief.
Then get home, give your missus a slap, and fall asleep during Parky?
Considering I was 15 at the time probably notGood Grief.

I've always had him down as a Cambridge manYou obviously didn’t go to Oxford then 🫤
Not so easy grabbing a dozen fans, but points deduction is easy and it would make it stop. However, I'm not too bothered by "we can see you holding hands", etc. If you let them wind you up then they've won, and we also dish-out p1ss taking chants at every opportunity. All this talk of points deductions gets my goat. If Brighton fans started inappropriate chanting and we had points deductions, I'd be incandescent. It's the fans that do it that should be punished, not all the team's fans. That's part of the reason I still carry a grudge against teachers. 'I don't know who did it, so I'm putting you all in detention'. Take out a dozen fans each match for vile chants, ban them for a few years and publish their names. It'll soon stop.
Totally agree ….this ‘’we” they talked about doesn’t include me for starters and I’ve been around a fair number of daysNo we wouldn't. Brighton fans do not have a history of 'wading in' except on rare occasions. And certainly not towards a few hundred Leeds United fans. They would kick the shit out of us.
We've never been that sort of fanbase. I remember an old Plymouth Argyle fan saying how he had travelled the land and Brighton was one of the safest places to come.
I know that will upset a tiny minority who will bring tales of great bravado, but it's a fact. It's a great place to come.
I know some don't like the new order, but if folk can't come to a game, cheer their team on and enjoy a family day out, then I suggest they spend the afternoon with the tissues and YouTube watching some 70s Aggro Porn.
