You are right in being one of the best run clubs in Serie A is not a high bar, one of the reasons I love Italian football is the 'characters' they have running the clubs there and De Laurentiis is certainly one of those characters! In fairness to him though he has done quite well with Napoli over the years and made some good business and football decisions. He is an absolute tight arse though and after upsetting Spaletti and losing him, his last two managerial appointments (Garcia and Mazzari) have been cheap disasters. They've still got a very good squad though, money to spend and if he gets his next appointment right (probably Conte), I expect them to be back up there again.

I am biased though as I love Italian football, Napoli and Roma are probably my two favourite clubs after the Albion and the Amalfi Coast is my favourite place in the world!
Fair enough, that explains it! We had 10 days in Naples and the Amalfi coast not long ago, and agree that it’s a beautiful area and a very vibrant city, even if the parking leaves something to be desired. Too chaotic for me at my age to consider living there but I can absolutely see why it could be thrilling for a youngster.

Another example of the pull of the Prem is this young Romanian CB seemingly choosing Spurs over Bayern.
Not entirely true. Mainly down to the fact he had already agreed terms with Tottenham and wanted to honour that, a player with principles.

The Amalfi coast generally is amazing. But Naples is absolutely horrible, a run down mess, armed guards round the atm's. A worse version of Marseille (a lot worse).

You are right, there are a lot of issues in Naples, pickpocketing for a start! But I still love it. Just something about it.
I visited Naples and the amalfi coast a few years ago. Whilst in NapIes I was enjoying my coffee at an outside table when I was approached my 2 men pointing at my fake 10€ Rolex watch that I had bought previously in Turkey. They explained that they were plain clothes police and I should put it away before I am robbed. Quite an experience and fair to say for that reason I didn't return to Naples. But I absolutely loved the Amalfi coast and Capri.

A few years back we were based for a couple of weeks just around the corner from Naples in Sorrento, at the time we could not find any excursion company that was offering tours of Napels even though it was only ten miles along the coast and in addition these companies and the hotels were all advising not to visit Naples for our own safety.
Never the less Two British couples in our hotel decided that they would visit Naples using the local train both couples were robbed one pickpocked on the train the other at knife point in Naples

Not my experience in Naples absolutely loved it including a day Vespa tour around the city. A couple of fab Italian restaurants thrown in for good measure
