He's been giving him SNIDEYS all night.

"Podolski's been quiet again, I thought he'd be one of the shining lights of this tournament"
"Shows what kind of a judge of player YOU are."

"Metzelder stands up to the challenge, and he's certainly not a man you'd pick an argument with"
"I would if I was stood behind you."

"Germany are the tallest team in the tournament, with an average height of 6 ft 1"
"Did you work that all out for yourself ?"

:lolol:

Such open CONTEMPT between commentator and co-commentator is to be encouraged. Top entertainment. I bet Pearce CHINS him after the final whistle.

I was about to post a thread about this.

My favourite was:

Pearce: It was given for a foul on Lehmann.
Lawrenson: Yeah, yeah, whatever.

I've noticed this before from Lawrenson towards Pearce.

Without wanting to go all "Lawrenson" on you, that quote was about Gomez. Why would he be saying that someone with three goals in two games had been quiet again?

Alright christ
I wasn't taking notes. Just picked up on a few slightly disparaging remarks.

Do the BBC have a single football pundit/commentator worth their wages? Motson, Lawrenson, Hansen, Lineker - all absolute BELLENDS.

Lawrenson? Good? Seriously? Go on, I'd be genuinely interested to hear how you can possibly like that patronising, smug, tedious dullard.

He's honest and straight to the point. He doesn't endlessly bumlick the English players all the time like Shearer does. I remember when Shearer and Hansen were constantly pussyfooting around the whole Gerrard-Lampard issue, when the whole nation KNEW the two of them couldn't play together. They still wouldn't stick their necks out and admit that one of them had to be dropped. Shearer with all his "I believe great players can play together" bullshit and Hansen's non-commital "well the manager's gottee make a decision" nonsense.

Lawro, on the other hand - when asked by Motson how he would fit Lampard back into the England team when he returned from injury - just said "I wouldn't. I wouldn't play him, I'd put him on the bench." Its sad to say, but that kind of honesty is almost completely non-existent on the BBC's football coverage. Lawrenson's sarcasm and caustic nature is a breath of fresh air - it cuts beautifully through the insufferable pomposity of Jonathan Pearce's commentary, and is far more preferable to Linekar, Hansen and Shearer's endless appeasement of their golf buddies in the England team. Give me Lawro over the arse-lickers any day.

Pearce's wife is a Palace season ticket holder. Trawl the web long enough (I couldn't be bothered) and you'll find a video of him celebrating a Palace goal as if all his wettest dreams were coming true at the same time.

It's not just that he's an idiotic, hysterical commentator - he's also closet Palace. So, yeah, Lawrenson, treat him like the scum he is.
