Given those boundaries though Ian, don't you feel your arms were tied when you couldn't ask the questions that probably you and everyone wants to know? And following on from Icy's post does he mention Martin Perry at any time in the interview, it did seem strange, or have I just got to wait?
And does everybody you interview give you a list of no go questions before you start, or is it just the more 'controversial' characters? I know they're not intended to be a Jeremy Paxman style grilling, but a more casual conversational kind of chat and I'm probably a bit naïve about these things as I've never been involved in any kind of journalism, but I am loving the interviews.

Martin Perry coming up in the next few weeks, so it will all pan out.

After all I've read about him, this was the first time I watched him "in action". Bit different personality from what I expected. A little more "bite" than I would have guessed. Didnt he throw out BG from a fan meeting? More in tune now with the Dick Knight from the interview rather than the cotton hero I thought I had read about.

Have you read this Swanny?

Unlike half the Sussex top order I knew what the boundaries were...…

Only a 9/10 for me. You didn't ask about the cup final money. Everyone knows they found it in the North Stand urinals.

Not for me, can still remember Wilkins , White and Chapman scratching their heads on the touchline. The very definition of tin pot

Good interview.

DK is a legend !!

I think the guy was shat on during his tenure, and shat on at the end of it by DK. I am getting a bit wound up sitting here actually, it pisses me off for you to say Wilkins was "The very definition of tin pot".
Tin pot was DK's contract negotiations with Bas Savage. In the middle of the full season Wilkins had, Savages contract was up, DK made an offer, Savage asked for an improved offer, DK makes an improved offer and tells Savage he needs to sign by x date or the offer is withdrawn. DK then goes to Naylor and gives him the story that Savage is being greedy and refusing to sign an improved offer. I know the club was potless, if you can't offer more you can't offer more, but DK tried to bully Savage into signing the contract.
Do you know what the improved offer was? To fill his car up with petrol a couple of times a month. How "tin pot" is that?

A couple of times a month? He was living in London, and wanted to commute every day.
In fact he stayed overnight with Alex Revell in Newhaven.

And he was a better coach than Peter Taylor when he informed him that he wasn’t to change our systems and formations. Cocky git.
No wonder Taylor got out.

I raised an eyebrow when I heard that. It was no secret at the time, Dick sometimes liked to be hands on when it came to on the field matters. An example being that Argentinian striker who had a pre season game at Lewes and Mark McGee stated post match he wouldn't be pursuing him. Dick promptly went and signed him. The guy was hopeless. Few managers are going to tolerate a chairman for too long, instructing them how to play, what formation etc.

Assume told subjects he wouldnt talk about. Such a pity as would like to know his relationship with board then and now. Like getting Archer on and not asking about sale of Goldstone. If his relationship now is not great would not think it helps by giving impression to everybody that was not welcome at Man City game.
