Always good to hear from an Albion legend. I was one who saw him walking along the road in Brighton many years ago and could not resist the opportunity of going up to him and thanking him for what he had done. Strange he was disappointed not to have received an invite to Man City game. He like a good story but sorry I have no doubt if he picked up phone a ticket would have been available to him.

Back to the thread....two cracking interviews. He's a very particular fellow, is Dick Knight. Amusing to see him sticking the boot into the 'old labour' of Crawley, unwilling to do any favours for (seemingly) 'new labour'-backed Albion. I know Brighton fans who jumped the labour ship when Mr Tony got in.
Funny old world, in every respect, innit?

I got the feeling it has really given him his footballing mojo back, unfortunately there were a couple of issues that I wanted to touch on but thought it best to leave this time, but there will be a Dick Knight Part 3 at some point so who knows?
Interesting to hear that the amount he sunk into the club was “only” £3 million.
Don’t get me wrong. That’s a lot of your own wedge to sink into the club and probably more than any of us are in a position to match but it really does demonstrate the scale of Uncle Tony’s investment.
Dick Knight was exactly the right man when we faced an existential threat. He had the determination, know how and cash to pull us back from the brink. He will always be among the most important people in the club’s history and I can’t begin to describe how grateful I am that he stepped in for us.
The Brighton renaissance was a two stage process, as Knight simply wouldn’t have had the funds to propel us to the Premier League. That took another lifelong supporter with a third of a billion at his disposal.
We have been so lucky since the battle to remove Archer was resolved.

Whilst being aware of the antagonism between him and the board, I still find it very sad, that as the clubs Life President, he wasn't invited to the Man City game.
I was fortunate enough to be a guest in the Directors box on a match day in our second season at the AMEX I think - even at that point it was evident that each director had their own table, but Dick Knight was shoved on a table in the corner with a couple of his family members, Des Lynham and a few others I think. Did not see him interact with anyone else throughout the day.
Unfortunate but when you have 2 strong characters both as the incoming and outgoing chairman will always be some level of conflict I think.

In March/April 2018 he was allegedly requested not to attend 3 home games over a footballing storm in a teacup, its very difficult for us fans to comprehend, but Tony and Dick are the Albion equivalent of Don and Phil Everly in the 1970's. its going to take a tremendous amount of bridge building to get them back on stage together at the Amex.
Great stuff again. I was stood next to him and his grandson away at Watford the game he spoke about. Seen him in the crowd at several other away games as well.
Really enjoyed the bits over hinsh’s appointment, although I’d like to have one other myth cleared up around the Argentina kit, was it really meant to be that colour, or did we make a mistake and not realise until it showed up?
Did he and Martin Perry not often stand in the crowd with us on the final Away game of the season when he was chairman? I seem to recall this happening more than once.

Thanks for both interviews Harty. Always good to reminisce and Dick's new project sounds just like what's needed at the lower levels of the professional game. Spot on about butterflies!
