Ok yet another villa thread, however, who has any recollections of our first away game in the top flight.

Remember being outplayed and returning from the tea hut when Maybank
rammed home the equalizer from a really tight angle. We were on the terrace opposite the Holte end. Ended up losing 2-1. Stavros warned us that the train was going through a particularly bad bit when the bricks came through the windows!

Villa fans on the opposite platform at Witton station asking where our 'warriors' were. Think they stayed at home that night.

Man City away the following Saturday. Now that was scarey with half our bit
made up with Man City casuals.

Thanks for the memories. More to come on Saturday. North Stand upper this time. Wonder if the tea bar is still down below!

It was a sharp learning curve in Div 1 given that we had had years of ruling the roost in the lower leagues.

After these 2 away games, and not knowing how long we'd be in the top flight, I decided never to go in the away end again but take in those legendary places like the Kop and Stretford End.
