I can't see us getting out of the Group now. Why is he over looking Michael Carrick or Adam Johnson? for a over-priced lump of shit like Jordan Henderson!

ummmmm.....because Carrick doesn't want to go and Johnson doesn't play in the same position.

It's not THAT difficult to work out.

carrick didn't want to go as back up........and to be honest, scholes hasn't given a shit about england for the last 8 years

agree about johnson though........we've called up jagielka who can give us cover in central midfield so we now have parker, gerrard, milner, jagielka and jones who can all play central midfield...no need for another

When has Jagielka ever played in midfield? Serious question, I wasn't aware he ever had...

Still, if we didn't take another central midfielder then we'd be looking at Milner (who as far as I'm aware doesn't play centre mid when he gets off the bench for city?) and jones (who has played there a few times for Man Utd) as our only alternatives to Parker and Gerrard - I think that would be a serious risk. If Henderson is the next best option (Carrick doesn't want to be a squad player and I think Scholes would be a serious backward step at his age) then that's who he should bring in, although I'm surprised that Leon Britton hasn't been considered.

Not proposing it as a solution, simply an additional option, but The OX, has played in CM for Arsenal.

How can these people refuse to go as back up? Surely if the national side is the pinnacle of football, it is up to the national side who goes and who is on stand by.

Exactly what I was thinking. Not wanting to be back up for the national side is offensive in my view.

What are the best odds for England not making it out of the group?

Lampard is going for a scan after pulling up in training - I think its a bit premature to completely rule him out of the Euros.

i'm sure jagielka has played in midfield? might be dreaming it though....

milner is in the squad because of his versatility....he's played a lot of games in both central midfield and on the wing (and a few at full back)....something you must have if you're a fringe player is the ability to cover a number of positions.....the only reason i said jones was due to his performance against spain

as for britton....not convinced...

Henderson would be another negative pick from Hodgson as replacement if Lampard doesn't make it.

We've already got effectively 3 1/2 strikers (given Rooney's ban) when we should have five, and replaced a midfielder with a centre-back. There is ample scope to bring in Adam Johnson, he's a potential matchwinner, and we're short of them.

This. I guess it reflects the egos that the Premier League has helped create, if people are not willing to be part of a National squad?

agreed......hate it when players take early retirement from international football
If I was Roy, I'd go and face them up.
If they man up and say it to his face, I'd give them dogs abuse, before stoving their face in.
If they try and weasel out of it, I'd give them even worse abuse, before stoving their face in.

I'd then go round to Carra, and stove his face in, just for the hell of it.
