I didn't read this 'till yesterday, but Saints playmaker Adam Lallana is injured and could be out for as much as for 6 - 12 weeks, picking up an injury in their 6-0 at Oldham (according to the Daily Echo, they are waiting for scans).

They hit a bad patch when he was injured last season and drew yesterday with him not being in the team.

I think we are all agreed Southampton are our biggest title threat so this is indeed good news.

He was injured at the beginning of the season wasn't he ? Having him out makes a lot of difference as yesterday's pitiful result showed.

My bro spoke to him yesterday about it. It seems that it could be the longer end of that timescale.

Great news!

Wow, didn't know that.

That is fantastic news! Couldn't have happened at a better time!!

Edit: Actually, the day after the transfer window shuts might have been better!

In a world of mixed news, that is very much on the scale of good. Unlike of course eating a coffee revel when hoping for a toffee one which is on the scale of bad.

wise words indeed.

shame that we need to resort to someone's misfortune to draw sustenance for ourselves but when it's scc's misfortune I will allow myself a rueful inward smile.

Fantastic news that someone's hurt themselves? I know they're promotion rivals but how would you feel if they were crowing over an injury to one of ours? We're bigger than that - aren't we?

Given the huge squad they have I would not think it will make much difference. Would expect them to just sign a replacement.

It did happen to us but on a larger timescale. LuaLua was our most influential player and after losing him we went on a very bad run. You'd hope that Southampton go on a bad run, but I feel for Lallana because he seems like quite a nice chap. Very talented, probably their best player against us, and unlucky he gets this injury.

Without trying to sound too negative here, but Lallana's injury now means that in his place Jason Puncheon will be back in the SCC side following his loan at Millwall - he's had a storming couple of months at The New Den, so maybe Lallana's absence isn't as much of a bonus as some may think.
