So the Junior doctors have accepted their 22% pay rise but a 3rd of them didn't back it. The BMA also making a stinging comment that it expected further above inflation rises in future years or there would be "consequences". Sounds like a bit of a threat to me and labour now kicking a very very expensive can down the road until they come back for more as the Unions inevitably will.

… unless they’re happy to cough up with each future demand?

Nice headline but it’s only a 4% pay rise.

Even James O’Brien was critical today. Ranging from “stupid”, to why would someone on £180k accept gifts from a donor
Poor old Bert (as seemingly SKS is known as by a sizeable number of his Cabinet on a WhatsApp group) - it’s not been his best week.

(Bonus points for anybody who can guess which cabinet colleague is secretly referred to as Mary Poppins and who is Mrs Banks?)

Just sharing what I happen to have seen, in the spirit of Open Government. It’s not like I’ve divulged who the group admin is and who the members are…or repeated anything like “no wonder Bert’s f***ed off to Rome. I’d have done the same.”

Because that would be the wrong thing to do. Probably.

This is what Labour does , gives the entire government work force with the union’s supervision, a pay increase way above inflation,
and puts the country’s economy further in the mire

It’s not above inflation. In real terms it’s -13% from 2010

Per the BMA, these are the junior doctors pay increases. Deserved imho and it should help stem the brain drain to Canada/NZ/Aus.

Not sure how many times I have to post this on NSC. Please do not lump us all together. I work for local government - and will not be getting a pay increase 'way above inflation'. Indeed. my salary has fallen by 25% in real terms since 2010, and it's not about to catch up. Indeed, it won't catch up before I retire.

Have you ever seen such entitled dickhead behaviour as this?

Guy gets 165k from the taxpayer a year and is a millionaire from his legal career yet he doesn’t think he has to pay to watch his club? Why doesn’t he just buy the equivalent of 1901 club at Arsenal - but paying is just for the little people apparently

Even before this, simply the arrogance of the establishment on all these things. The Royals, Starmer, even O’Brien can’t help but boast about gaining behind the scenes concert tickets for stuff the hoi polloi never could. The Starmer’s were gifted £4k of Taylor Swift tickets. By virtue of position. How about declining and jumping all the hoops real fans have to?

He is not coming over well at all, as you say he has more than enough money to pay for it.

Maybe they should means test free tickets?

Whilst Wes "Billy Liar" Streeting is completing victory laps at sorting out the junior doctor strikes, the head of the junior doctors was being interviewed on 5Live this morning.

We already know that further strikes are possible in six months time, should the doctors not be granted an additional inflation-beating pay rise, but I was surprised to hear him describe "the arrogance of this government" in relation to nurses, before talking about how Labour changes in 2008 introduced massive inefficiencies to all department in all hospitals that still persist, and it would be good for them to put that right.

It didn't strike me that Wes Streeting would be on his Christmas card list.
