In the early 80s, when elections were being held, if I visited my old nan in Scotland Street you only ever saw Labour posters in windows throughout Hanover - and that was when Thatch was in her pomp. So things have returned to normal, then. Mind you, back in those days, my dad who was a working class Tory, used to try and convince me that Militant Tendancy were planning to launch the revolution from his local, The Sir Charles Napier.

I lived above the Napier in the early 80's! The family moved to Hanover in 1981 to run the pub. The pub had quite a strong left feeling to it. I remember lots of "support the miners" stickers around the place.
Hanover was staunch Labour then with only Jimmy Henderson across the road putting Tory posters in his window during elections.

The whole area has been "poncified" since the 1980's , the Greens have been a protest vote against the 3 main parties but now the population realise the love affair is over.
