I'm no fan of Starmer and have no political party allegiance.

I'd would admittedly love to see this administration out of office because they have dragged the Conservative party and democracy into the gutter and split the country in two.

However Starmer has gone up in my estimation today. Not for the morality of the statement, but raising the stakes politically with a potential huge cost to himself.

It's brave clever politics from a different era, one that reminded me of John Major or Neil Kinnock when they stood up against the looney fringe of their respective parties.

I never expected this of him, but he's played a blinder.

Like the PM he's probably surrounded by young but a bit shit personal advisors. Sunak (let's wait for the report) seems a bit unlucky turning up for a normal meeting and being "ambushed" by his boss's cake. Labour saying he should resign was a huge mistake which is probably where a lot of the heat has come from for the Labour meal.

Starmer has just equalised. Looking forward to the last ten minutes of the game.

You can never win the 'mind' of a committed campaigner. He's campaigning. I've decided to ignore it, with the contest for most engaging conversation available, when pressed, won by a whisker by my cat.

I can understand that but I have to admit I find his contributions ludicrously entertaining.

His political perspective and self awareness are so limited, it is seriously funny....

What else could he do? It was that or sit back getting pelters all the while the police investigation was underway. It was only real option.

It's hilarious, no other story in town for the Daily Mail. Can't talk about Brexit, can't talk about rampant inflation, can't talk about the millions of people being pushed in to poverty but....Keir Starmer has a curry....and now says he will accept the judgement of the police... absolute fury !

The entire thing is a hilarious shambles and explains why so many people hate both main parties.

You could swap "Keir Starmer" or "The Labour Party" where you've written "the Daily Mail" and it would accurately describe the last 3 or 4 months.

Why on earth would I (or anyone else for that matter) play an infantile guessing game with you? Please tell me if you can.......

..and great that you give the thumbs up for that. I am glad you recognise it's an idiotic suggestion; you are certainly good at making them!

He gives a thumbs up whenever anyone call him out. He's given me loads. It a form of passive-agressive stalking. Very strange person

I don't think in my life I've witnessed a more boring and pointless news cycle than minor lockdown infractions of eating birthday cakes and having a bottle of beer. But the political establishment love it - court drama that stops you talking about all the real things that are actually wrong in society

Its a win-win for the right. Their reply to you would be 'but whatabout all the wind you puffed about Johnson allegedly doing the same?'

If you say 'Johnson should be prosecuted' they will say 'whatabout Starmer?'

And people are buying all this because they are dishonest or stupid

I must say I have every contempt for people who turn a blind eye to Johnson's lies and yet accept without blinking the accusations that Starmer is a hypocrite.

A great overview.

The cost of living/widespread new poverty (as well as Ukraine) should be dominating.

They were in the run up to the local elections (which also should have been dominating) then, from nowhere

1667951349-dead-cat-clipart-1_opt.jpg

And suddenly all those things are managed out of the news and ongoing discussions around the country as evidenced on NSC. Absolute Textbook. But of course, nobody would really be naïve enough to fall for that

and, unlike Harry Wilson's tackle, I managed to avoid the word Stupid :lolol:

Edit : My apologies re Image, I didn't know, but do now. Hope new one is OK

I thought that Bozza's point was that since they are not dominating, this is somehow labour's fault, but on second reading I wonder if he means it is the fault of the media. Sorry, but I simply can't tell. I personally can't blame the media when all of it, left right and centre, is focused on the same 'naughtygate' stuff.

The fact that the media was obsessed with partygate, and is fow focused on the Rank Hypocrisy of Starmer Must Resign was, I thought, the result of effective maniplulation of the media by the shitehouser Johnson supporters in the tory party.

But what do I know? Apparently nothing, because I am not following the NSC narrative here.

Surely no one actually believes the hogwash that all politicians are the same as the integrity-bankrupt Johnson ?

Lol.

It is a message that is being furiously promoted, though. I have decided to put one NSC poster on ignore for his instant call to arms, and his bare face promotion of lies, in this regard.

Mind reading, I think Bozza meant that the opposition record’s been stuck on Partygate 24-7 for months, when there were incredible open goals available on poverty, cost of living etc.

This isn’t to downplay rules for one/not for policymakers, but:
- real issues affecting Brits on a day to day basis such as being cold or hungry, haven’t been hammered home.
- politically, other than diehard Tory haters, an opportunity was missed by Labour to scoop up votes in the Midlands and North.

[But perhaps Bozza meant something else entirely? :lolol:]

Oh well, at least with this particular dead cat gone for a while, we can now get back to

The ongoing Ukraine war
The Russian Report
Raging inflation
Electricity and Gas crisis (with more to come in October)
How we implement JRM's 'Act of self harm' Border controls
Shipping Immigrants to Rwanda (and getting theirs in return)
The Sue Gray report
Growing costs of Imported food
The upcoming (or current) recession
The Covid PPE investigation
The unimplementable Northern Ireland Protocol
Increasing poverty levels
Farming industry issues with growing, harvesting and slaughtering
The huge increase in immigrants making the channel crossing over the last 2 years
Visa issues for Ukrainian refugees
The increasing national debt

so at least there's some good news. I'm sure I've missed something
