Is this the end for Labour?

Cameron is making all the right noises at the moment, but will he really deliver?
I think even with a Tory goverment, nothing will change.

I have heard this all before.

This Lame Duck government is finished but has 2 years of death throes to go through first I am afraid.

Labour's best hope is to ditch Brown and elect David Milliband who strikes me as far more electable that David Cameron. However, there isn't much talent shining through in either party.

If things stay as they are then the Tories will be elected by default - which would be very bad news.

IMO no government will ever get it "right" based on two things one being they all have good and bad policies but usually fail to deliver most of the things they promise and two there is always an arguement on either side of a policy (ie capital punishment, some for some against) therefore they will never please all of the "people" anyway.

The Conservatives will get in by default. Labour are so royally f***ed now, it really wouldn't matter if the Conservative Leader was Gary Glitter, they'd still get in.

Well said, it took the conservatives 18 ys to piss people off, Labour probably 10 years, so another 18 years of Conservative rule and round we go again

Don't trust any of them. If you're in opposition you can say anything you want because you don't have to prove it, just criticise and if you're in power there's always reasons for not doing anything.

funny really - I remember everyone saying the same about John Major's government in 1991 and he won the '92 election.

I've always voted Labour, but at this moment in time, I wouldn't know who to vote for.

I can't stand Gordon Brown and I think he's getting his just desserts for his part in removing Tony Blair - who, whether you liked him or not, was a good PM and that's why I agree with Simster about David Milliband. He's one of the only ones in the cabinet who would make a good Prime Minister and he's making all the right noises in his current role.

The problem with British politics at the moment is that there are no true leaders.

David Cameron is unelectable because he's a fake...he's got as much integrity as Fred West and he has no policies...the only time he says anything of any note is when he jumps on a bandwagon of public opinion.

You've then got the rest of the shadow cabinet who are no different to what you've got now.

Exactly - Cameron has been banging on about knife crime - saying that more young people should be locked up.

Has he costed how he'll build all these new prisons - or is he going to release lots of guilty prisoners just to make room for all these knife-wielding youths.

Of course he hasn't - just hot air and rhetoric.
Just like any opposition.

it makes me die how labour supporters bang on about"prudence" and "costing" projects if its a tory one when they have happily spunked billions upon billions on unreformed public services and welfare payments over the past 11 years.
