Kuszczak must play against Arsenal.

West, West, West Sussex.
He is the number one keeper and as such must play. This is the 4th round of the FA Cup against Arsenal, in front of a sell out Amex. Not the 1st round against Maidstone Utd. Other positions are subject to opinion and speculation, but not the keeper. He is number one, everyone knows he is number one and if he does not play it is a weakened side, which ever way you look at it and a stupid decision. I have often raised my eyebrows in the past with Poyet's selections but I fully expect him to start with the Pole in goal, regardless of what has been said before. Speculation that Ankergren would be the keeper for the cups, was before we drew Arsenal at home.

Spot on!

NSC can expect a binfest if we lose by one goal due to a reserve keeper's error.

If you think TK is so much better than Casper why risk him in a game that does not hugely matter? If he got injured people will be out in seconds claiming Poyet is an idiot for playing him and damaging our play-off push. After all whats the point of having reserve keepers if we are not going to use them. God I can hear the moaning already.

So please, don't moan BEFORE a game as I can barley take it AFTER the game. Constant moaning......urgh.

Depends on your point of view. Personally I think it is a massive game. Beat Arsenal then draw a championship or lower club at home and we could be 1 game away from Wembley. If you think that doesn't matter, I would suggest you weren't around in 83. Maybe i'm wrong.

No disrespect but I'm dreading seeing the team lineup and reading Casper's name. On the other hand i thought that about Newcastle and we won 2-0. On my third hand Arsenal are not Newcastle.

I doubt it, the league has gone, they ain't going to win the champions league and they haven't won any silverware for 7 years. Arsenal will be full strength on Saturday, of that I have no doubt. But that doesn't mean they will have a full strength attitude.

Aree with you on this Rev, Arsenal are not going to miss a chance to get to Wobbly, I'm also thinking we can get a result here.

No he wasn't, Ankergren was playing every league match, Brezovan played in the cup match. And looked completely lost for twenty minutes against any ball into the box from throw ins/corners.

It's a matter of opinion. I've always preferred brez.

I see nothing wrong with playing Casper in goal against Arsenal personally. I think it makes good sense over a season - keep the reserve keeper involved and give him some game time, whilst giving the first choice keeper a rest. As has been mentioned, he did exactly this with Brezovan at Stoke. I'm guessing both players knew the score about cup games at the start of the season and if such an agreement has indeed been made and Gus goes back on it then that's not good man management in my view. Gus is a stubborn bugger too and if playing Casper was always his plan he's unlikely to go back on that, especially as I think he just wants the players to enjoy this experience and isn't too fussed about cup competitions.

Silly old bat
and isn't too fussed about cup competitions.

Still people believe this myth. Gus loves the FA cup which is why we've done well getting to the 5th round each season since he's been our manager. He doesn't like other cup competitions such as the JPT or League Cup. He has said there should be just one league and one cup competition per season as in other countries.
Gus has said that he loves the FA cup. He won a winner's medal himself and loved playing at Wembley. All other cups are just a distraction.

Name me a single manager throughout history that hasn't publicly stated - "I love the FA Cup".

Still people believe this myth.

you wrote this on the official birmingham matchday thread..... not fickle!

"Kuszczak was bought in specifically not to drop the clangers that Brez and Ankergren did. Sounds like he dropped a massive bomb today, not slightly at fault, massively at fault. Any other position on the pitch and Ankergren would be in Tuesday night. With Ankergren in line to start agianst the gunners, he should play on Tuesday and if he plays badly bring Kuszczak back in the the Arsenal game,,,if not the Ankergren keeps the shirt,,,,only fair."

I know what I wrote 20 mins after the Birmingham game. I said if it was Poyets intention to start with Ankergren against Arsenal, then why not start with him against Blackburn, if TK's confidence is low. I stand by that, what's your point???..I also said on Sunday morning that TK was by far the best keeper at the club and should start both games....As it turns out I was right, in the sense that Poyet does not intend to start against Arsenal with Ankergren, therefore there was no arguement to start with him Tuesday. But thanks for pointing out, that is something else I got right.

Do you have Seagull Player? If so then listen to Gus' interview after the Newcastle game.

Like I say, I've yet to hear a manager not say he loves the FA Cup. I'm sorry, comments regarding the love of the FA Cup tend to mean nothing to me - they're just par for the course.

I don't have Seagulls Player but I do remember him saying recently that he just wants the players to go out and enjoy the Arsenal game [once they've concentrated on trying to pick up 6 pts from the Brum & Blackburn games].

Edit - can't be bothered.

Or you can't name one more like??? You could start with Fergie of course, because he's shown how he regards the competition in the grand scheme of things, but apart from that I reckon you'd struggle, and you know it.

They all say it - it's just one of those footballing clichés.
