What are you talking about? How could any company dismiss someone for a video of them kicking a cat?! How would that stand up to any kind of employment tribunal?

He probably will have a "bringing the club into disrepute" clause within his contract, however I agree with you that he's very unlikely to be let go for free, or even shunned for too long.

If they did terminate his contract, he'd be a free agent and would just sign up (for more money) somewhere else.

Technically it's a private prosecution but it's heard in the Magistrate's court and (IIRC) requires the same level of proof, ie beyond reasonable doubt.

There was a plan to stop these and, instead, pass details to the CPS.

I know, it's not about the outcome - the point of it being private is that the RSPCA have no legal authority to prosecute in it's own right - meaning they have to employ a solicitor to do it........

Get with the beat baggy, in todays world people absolutely lose their jobs and careers for far less after trial in the social media court. Unless of course you cost your employer tens of millions and they need you. Then you can pretty much do anything.
