I cannot for the life of me see what there is to gain from Knight showing his hand so publicly.

Not very professional considering he is apaprantly due to talk to someone else today, who one can only assume, will probably have read this.

If we get Gannon all well and good. If we don't, then the new manager will have been undermined before even getting the job.

Fingers crossed.

I also thought WTF - is he really the same man as a couple of seasons ago.

:nono:

This is what happens when too much is said in public too soon. Stockport County FC set the the ball rolling by announcing that we were interested in Gannon - very unprofessional of them (but, it would seem, typical of the shambolic way that Club is being run). The press then focus on one candidate and half the negotiations have to take place in the full glare of publicity about the details.

I think you are wearing limited edition Uncle Dick rose-tinted sunglasses there, m'Lord. It's hardly unusual for clubs to publicly announce when other clubs ask to speak to their manager (Coppell to Reading springs to mind.) As for too much being said too soon - nobody held a gun to Mr Woodbine's head and told him to say the job is Gannon's if he wants it. He could have just said he was one candidate.

Hopefully Gannon will turn it own and we can get the Gov'nor in. We don't want someone else fannying around undecided. If Gannon wants it he shut accept it NOW. There should be a time limit. If you went for a job and was offerd it and said " I will think about it and let you know when I am ready " you would be told to f*ck off in no uncertain terms.I am praying Gannon turns it down as HE IS NOT the man for BHAFC. It is a weak and very dissapointing potential appointment. Its hardly likely to get seats on bums. We need Paul Ince. A much stronger candidate in all respects.

Spot on.

Coming out like this and saying the job is Gannon's if he wants it is hugely unprofessional.

As Mr Banana says, there would have been nothing wrong with confirming Gannon was in the running.

Just so long as, if the wheels do fall off this one, we don't end up dissappointed with the 'first reserve'. Whoever takes the job needs to be given a fair run, and not lamented for being 'not Gannon'.

There are some good managers out there, let's hope we get one.

I would rather have someone who shows loyalty (properly thinking through leaving his current club like Gannon is) over someone who jumps ship as soon as a better offer comes in (like Ince).

No need to apologise. I think you're making progress - have you been working on it? - it's more the grammar and sensical flow of the way you write which makes it difficult to understand you at the moment. I'm here to help - feel free to send me your thoughts for proofing before you post. I can cut out some of the bullshit as well if you like.

Not that I'm complaining or anything - Uncle Dick sounds very positive and I'm sure his quotes are geared at giving further persuasion to Gannon - but it seems a bit disrespectful to the other candidates. It'll all be a bit Steve McClaren if they get offered the job now.

Yeah, I thought that. Not sure why DK has come out and said all that, it's not as if he feels obliged to keep us fully up to date all the time as we've discovered teh last few months when he was as common a sight as Posh Spice devouring a Gut Buster.

On what evidence do you say that Ince a "much stronger" candidate in all apsects? Has Ince got his UEFA qualification badges? Is Ince more intelligent than Gannon? The answer is clearly no. Anyone who has heard Gannon speak knows he talks very thoughtfully and is an articulate manager. A rare thing.
In any case, what's all the fuss about? It's perfectly reasonable for Gannon to want to talk it over with his family before potentially up rooting them south and to weigh up his options. Remember he only had the interview yesterday.
I think he sounds exactly the sort of man for us. Clever with progressive ideas about training and coaching he's achieved a lot at Stockport with no money. They play attractive football which has got results. It's precisely those attributes which will put bums on seats at Withdean, if he takes the job.

we haven't even contacted Ince so it won't be him. In my opinion Gannon is a much stronger candidate, Ince would be off at the drop of a hat anyway. If he has done this well at Stockport with no money imagine what he could do here with a few quid behind him!
