Of the three new boys called up for Michael Vaughan's second match at the helm, batsman Ed Smith is certain to play.

If Glen Chapple, called up after the retirement of Darren Gough, is to make his debut it would be at the expense of James Kirtley, 12th man in every Test so far this summer.

Vaughan said: "We will look at the conditions in the morning and decide which four seamers will be best to help us win the Test."

What does it take for Springer to play for England? Still, their loss, our gain.

Batty has been dropped just now, staying with Giles only as main spinner

Meopham, Kent.
Starting to have an England career similar to Chris Silverwood who just seemed to have bowlers come in and out of the side all around him yet always missed out himself, as the permanent 12th man. !!!!
