The front page of today's Argus has a dramatic mock up of the artist's impression a la the World Trade Centre in 2001 ie. blowing up and a banner headline KING ALFRED COLLAPSES.

Bought my copy in Tesco's Burgess Hill this morning and the bird on the till saw it an said "Oh my God did that really happen? I never watch the news".

"Yeah. Tragic" I said. "Hundreds missing"

Because a lot of the old is very very good, and putting an ultra modern pile of cardboard boxes next to it really is quite pathetic.

Fine. Let's build an ersatz Regency swimming pool then. Why not mock-Tudor? That would be really tasteful and stylish. We could even get some Roman pillars for the entrance and maybe some lions to flank the entrance? Stone clad the place as well.
