Everton striker Kevin Campbell has a new goal in his sights - to become the next Simon Cowell.

Relax, Toffee fans, the big man isn't planning to hoist up his shorts and start slagging off the youth team - he is preparing to become a music mogul.

Campbell, 33, has invested a hefty slice of his hard-earned cash in a record label called 2 Wicked - and is confident it will be a success.

"I want to be in the music business - it's always been a case of when, not if," he stated.

2 Wicked has already made its first signing - bad boy rapper Mark Morrison, whose career has twice been halted by spells in the slammer.

The Mac's latest return has cost Campbell and co a cool £2.8m for a three-album deal, but they are confident it will prove to be a good investment.

"This is the real deal," a friend of Campbell's explained. "When Kev retires from football, 2 Wicked will be his main livelihood.

"Kev is into hip hop and R&B, but he will be putting out mostly commercial stuff."

Campbell has worryingly admitted to being "a bit of a rapper" himself, but insisted he would concentrate on his football for the next few years.

Wise move, Kevin - the last player who fancied himself as the next Busta Rhymes was John Barnes. Nuff said.

Hope he has better luck with his health than his record label.
