Apparently he DID know of his jewish roots because they had clashed before. Still free speach and all that, bit OTT even if Livingstone is a total fool.

The power of the unelected Standards Board for England to suspend elected Mayors and Councillors is unbelievable - in comparison with the minimal control that there is over MPs.

What an absolutely disgraceful decision. That tin pot hack had it coming, Ken Livingstone didn't know his Jewish roots at the time, and had every right to say what he did.

Piss poor.

An excellent decision, especially if he didn't know of the journalists Jewish roots. How about if he had compared him to a shiite revolutionary?

Red Ken is a disgrace. A typical loud mouthed, do a I say dictator. It is a shame that they didn't dismiss him or send him on a tour of concentration camps in Eastern Europe after he had been fitted with a gag.

Dictator? I thought he had been ELECTED, despite having been banned from the Labour party.

And he had been badgered by that cretinous journo for weeks over utter trivialities because that shit Standard rag doesn't like him. His jibe was to compare him like a concentration camp guard in response to the two-bit hack saying "he was only doing his job" despite making an utter nuisance of himself for no apparent reason. So Ken's personality is an irrelevance as far as I can see. In fact, I applaud him for not backing down when confronted by the hack blatently using his roots in order to extract an ill deserved apology. I wish there were more people around like that.

I must say, I was impressed by your previously never-seen ability to be OBJECTIVE, as you were in your last post. But here you are, reverting to rabid, anti anything-left-wing, paranoid type.

Livingstone is a wanker so I don't care that he has been suspended, but he didnt deserve to be.

I don't really care, I just don't like him or the way he conducts himself. So, naturally, I am quite amused when this happens to him. Its a sort of punishment for all those things he has got away with in the past. I just hope he is not being paid while he is suspended and has to pay costs.:p :p :p

Livingstone has had his moments but compared to Derek Hatton he is sound. Hatton would make me agree with Looney.

As it is the suspension seems to me a bit OTT. Who really has much sympathy for a door steping newshound, whatever his heritage ?

Classic example of an NSC sweeping statement. There should be a smiley for this sort of thing.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
For a lefty, Livingston has always struck me as a bit of a sound bloke, I like him and I think this seems very unfair.

I bet PARASITE Blair is having some sort of party to celebrate this tonight.

In another thread there was discussion about whether LDCs leaders husband should be let off assaulting a journalist. Most people thought he had got off because he was an an ex policeman and this was corrupt. Livingstone has actually got away with assaulting a journalist before along with a lot of other things that an ordinary person would not. Hence, "its a sort of punishment for all those things he has got away with in the past."

So, when are you going to make a smiley for that then?

In my computer
This is the beginning of the long road to the end...

When we are no longer allowed to express an opinion, raise an objection, draw a cartoon, disagree with an historian, smoke in a private bar, take photos of your own children on their first swimming trip, choose what happens to your own body when you're pregnant and don't want to be, discipline rowdy children at school etc., then we're on the road to the biggest nanny state ever created.

If only people had a little more respect.

Respect for the opinions of others and their right to speak their mind, even if you don't agree with it...
