On a slightly contrary note - I am amazed Ridsdale has not been banned before from Elland Road. And I do not understand why he would want to go. Or why he woudl celebrate a goal against his team. The man is an arse.

And Ken Bates is a really nasty, foul-mouthed bully.

On those criteria, you'll be hoping that they hammer Southampton by even more!

My memory fades, its old age, yes, you're quite right, my apologies.

There were some great posts on the Leeds websites this weekend. This was my personal favourite:

"Why the f*** are Leeds Utd getting beaten by poxy little clubs like Cardiff? We have to remember who we are and we have to have a manager who is capable of giving us all that we deserve. Remember, we are Leeds."

These are the last eight results when Leeds have played Cardiff:

12/09/84: Cardiff City 2 Leeds United 1
29/12/84: Leeds United 1 Cardiff City 1
06/01/01: Cardiff City 2 Leeds United 1
02/10/04: Cardiff City 0 Leeds United 0
15/01/05: Leeds United 1 Cardiff City 1
09/08/05: Cardiff City 2 Leeds United 1
10/12/05: Leeds United 0 Cardiff City 1
19/08/06: Leeds United 0 Cardiff City 1

That's who they are. And they are Leeds.

Because he's a CCFC director ?

Peter Ridsdale didn't leave Leeds United on good terms. And since he left Elland Road he has been subjected to death threats, his house has been vandalised by Leeds fans, he has been endelessly slagged off in the press by various Leeds officials past and present, etc etc.

He's stated publicly that he reckons his treatment has been unjustified, so under those circumstances I suspect he no longer feels the same affection for Leeds United Football Club and its supporters as he once did.

But regardless of what has gone on in the past, Ridsdale is now a Cardiff City official. He works for Cardiff, not Leeds. Therefore, I believe he is perfectly within his rights to celebrate an important City goal, especially when those celebrations were apparently restrained.

I understand that - but his presence at Elland Road is bound to cause problems - so I would have thought it sensible for Leeds to have told him (in writing) before now that he is would not be able to gain entry to the ground.

And why would he want to put himself in that position - regardless of his rights ?

I think Bates and Ridsdale are both tossers of the highest order. And well done to Cardiff in the absence of Jerome.

He went to Elland Road last season. There were no problems then.

The police advised him to stay away for his own safety and Leeds told Cardiff they were not going to put on any extra security for his visit, but he was keen to go so the club took its own security. Four big lads. There was no bother at all.

It was the same routine this season. I think Football League rules dictate that the home club must give a certain number of seats in the directors' box to visiting officials.

I don't think there's any question Ridsdale is well within his rights to go. It just seems to lack any common sense, making a point for the sake of it at a place where he is clearly very unwelcome (and for good reason, let's be honest).

When Belotti was turning up at the Goldstone those times (and being escorted away on police advice), did anyone think he was 'really brave'? I don't think so, just an idiot.

And as has been said earlier, Bates is not above a bit of populist grandstanding at anyone's expense, least of all Ridsdale. But at the end of the day I agree with Mum, they're both tossers, shame it didn't come to blows.

Certainly would have been. Might even have got more than the 18,000...

Spot on.

At least it's just an isolated event - those affiliated to CCFC seeking to antagonise. Back to business as usual now, presumably.

Oh.

I might have agreed with that last year, but he went to Elland Road then and there were no problems. This season there were problems, but only with good old Ken Bates.

Leeds were pretty poor on Saturday and it seems their defeat, coupled with what was a low crowd by their standards, was all too much for Comedy Ken. So he threw his toys out the pram and acted like a twat. By all accounts he made a right fool of himself.

I know Dave Jones was also unhappy with his treatment up at Leeds, but I have to say that the police and all of the Leeds staff that we dealt with were first class and a credit to their club, as was also the case last season.

Shame about their chairman. Did you see his statement in relation to Chelsea's complaint about him to the FA? It's at the link below. Quite astonishing.

Perhaps Ken Bates is trying to disguise the fact that Leeds have had a piss poor start to the season, have sold their best striker, and the people up there are not happy with the price increases he has put through. £26-36 is a lot of money to ask, although at least you do get a roof.

The crowd on Saturday must've been their lowest for a long time, and the atmosphere in the home sections was almost non-existent. Things are obviously looking grim at Elland Road.

I listened to the Leeds local radio station on the way home, and they carried a lengthy interview with Kevin Blackwell. I couldn't believe the rubbish he was coming out with. He has clearly lost the plot completely. They are doomed if that fool remains in charge for much longer.

I agree with that Blackwell stuff, I heard his post-match interview on Saturday, and he had moved into that managerial twilight zone; wild-eyed, totally biased, not acknowledging Cardiff's display, obsessed with refereeing decisions that had 'gone against him' - he knows he's under huge pressure, it's gone up again after the play-off final, and unlike last season he's no longer coping.

There's no love lost between Cardiff and Leeds since the former knocked them out of the FA Cup and a near riot ensued. Sam Hamman made an ass of hiself I seem to recall but there again hardly new with him.

As it is I can understand why Ridsdale is unpopular at Leeds but he has moved on but they clearly have not.

As it is Bates is a prize tit of truly pornographic proportions, he latest outburst about Chelsea trying to poach three Leeeds youngsters is yet another typical rent a gob outburst. The irony is that had it been made by almost anybody but Master Bates it would have some credibility given the Ashley Cole saga.

Bates is doing his level best to make Leeds hated the way they were in Revie's time, I wonder if that's what their fans actually want, over to you Starry.

Did anyone like us before Bates came along then? The bile that has been written on here by Brighton fans would suggest not.

Bates is a **** but he is our **** and I'm happy enough with what he has done. We were 72 hours from liquidisation, Ridsdale left the club up shit street without a paddle we're paying for his idiocy. Next season the last of the Ridsdale Leeches will be paid off and we'll be back in business. Would that have happened without Bates - nope.

The fact no one likes us is fine, who wants to be a liked namby pamby club that people are indifferent about?

As for Ridsdale, and as someone who visited (and was arrested several times) Kirby Lonsdale I am glad he won't be returning to the ground that was sold from under us thanks to his ridiculous ideals.

The man is a wanker and deserves all he gets. He will never been forgiven.

What do you mean about the Chelsea thing? I'm thinking you have not much of a clue about what has been going on between Chelsea, Worthington and Thorp Arch?

The mistake Chelsea made was only persuading two of the four boys to go. Danny Rose is the lad who spilt the beans, who kept the tickets and cheques and who handed it all on a plate to Ken. Had they gotten him it might have ended differently and Leeds wouldn't have had all the evidence to go against them.

Bates delivered a wonderful definition for The Shysters in our programme tonight and gave the Buck one a lesson or two. Heh

Oh it was worse.

In my defence my wife dumped a screaming baby on me at 3am this morning and have been up since.
