There's a strong chance fewer people would have died in the last few months, but hey, what's a few thousand deaths between friends?

Well........if their record in getting to grips with rampant anti-semitism in their party is anything to go by......I don't hold out much hope that they would have fared any better......The easiest thing to do in this whole scenario is to be a little bit clever in hindsight and start latching onto all the things that might have been done differently. All I know is that they would probably have had the same or similar group of experts guiding them in their decision making. I doubt much would have been done differently.

The government was able to see what was happening in other countries who's virus pandemic was several weeks in advance of the UK.
The Conservatives still ****ed it up.

You've got a point in terms of the advice pipeline. But I can't imagine Starmer managing some things so badly

a) shaking hands with Covid patients and boasting about it

b) hugely over-stoked expectations on 'sending the virus packing'

c) generally confusing messaging

d) appointing idiots like Patel

and the trump card

e) sticking with Cummings. That alone delineates this outfit as discredited and failing on this issue.

There's a reason why we are the worst in Europe and Johnson must be a major cause.

Words of advice.......don't go on Twitter. Its a haven for the socially inadequate.

Unfortunately, i'm paid to so I have to have some sort of involvement with it!

Mo Gosfield's view is fair (in a tory favourable kind of way) but I agree with your points and genuinely believe they some of them will be the basis of findings in a future investigation into the government's behaviour..... if they don't prevent it from happening. No doubt our P.M. will trot out the 'hindsight', 'following the science', arguments at that time.....

They deliberately found the messaging confusing, because they didn't like Boris Johnson.
Nobody could have done a better job.

Thank god we are back to some normality. The government has done a good job through this whole thing.

Gods country fortnightly
Nobody could have done a better job. .

For all Jezza's failings I don't think he would have disappeared for half of February and missed countless cobra meetings.

Johnson was too busy dealing with his dysfunctional personal life when he should have been putting the country first.

Ten of thousands of unnecessary deaths, don't know how he can sleep at night.

You need to consider taking that scarf off...

Our numbers do not make any sense at all when you compare it to countries like India that has a population of over 1B, has over 2M cases but a lower death rate. I don't believe the numbers.

What about the rest of Europe as a comparison?

We all watched in horror as Covid19 unfolded in Italy and Spain. Some hospitals over there were at breaking point, we saw that on our own TV screens, yet we had nothing of the sort here.

That's why I believe our numbers are wrong, people being registered with having Covid19, when they had nothing of the sort. Let's see, but I think they will be adjusting the numbers.

They were all tested.

And I'm sure the front line NHS staff would agree there was no strain in hospitals. :ffsparr:

And how do you think the UK Government will 'adjust' their total excess death figures. Resurrection ?

I have made my point, that I don't believe the numbers. I have provided my reasons, and that is the end of the conversation from me.

So what was the reason you believe that the 62,000 excess deaths, reported by the ONS is wrong ?

This is quite possibly the most one eyed and stupid thing I have ever read on the internet. Congratulations.
