Ha! You’re partly right - I was an avid Remainer, and obviously I did have the time and money to travel around Europe. I have a range of part time jobs, so I was able to fit in trips around work commitments. But I made sure the vast majority was NOT a holiday (the overnight train journey from Bucharest to Budapest springs to mind!). In amongst it all, I spent a month volunteering for a refugee charity in Greece, did some part-time work at a hospital in Finland, and stayed in very low budget Airbnbs or hostels in almost all the 27 countries I visited.

I’m not claiming that I saw EVERY part of EVERY country the EU, obviously - but it doesn’t take a genius to realise that most of the rest of Europe is progressing rather better than the UK at the moment. And there’s very little chance of us turning things round in the near future.

Sometimes it takes fresh eyes to see what some always take for granted. Being born and living in this great country is an undoubted blessing which is why so many from around the world choose this country above all others to work and live. It's a shame we can't do a direct exchange of those citizens with people here who always run this country down, constantly wallowing in negativity and almost seem to enjoy any difficulties this country endures. You would think they'd be happy to clutter off to all the other parts of the world if they really thought life there is so much better.

Here's a little nuance that might not have occurred to you. It just might be that it's because we love our country that we don't like what is being done to it. Surely, that's not beyond the bounds of understanding?
