January 15th 2005. We have Sheff Utd away a ground I still haven't been to, been looking forward to it since last time in div 1 the game was midweek and I couldn't get time off work. Only missed Derby and Leicester up until now this season. Then I hear my brother is having a party to celebrate his recent wedding on that night 15-01-05, in Seaford. So what should I do ? I know what I want to do and probably will but I might upset the "family", What would you do faced with the same problem ? He did get married on November 18th and didn't invite me to the wedding. I will have to travel all the way to Seaford.
Yep I think you are all correct Sheffield here I come. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

There can only be one sensible answer to this-go to Sheffield. He gets married and didn't invite you then throws a party on a football night? Enjoy the game:lolol:

If he didn't invite you to the wedding, surely he's not going to be too put out if you don't go to the party?

My initial reaction was "F*** him. If he can't invite you to the wedding, then do what you want."

However, I think Minghawk is right. A game of football is nice, but compared to the damage that you may cause to the relationship with your brother, go to the wedding do. Sheffield Utd will be there next season, but it may take longer to heal any rifts with your brother.

Family is important m8.

Way out west
Hard one to call, I once dodged going to a function where most of my family would be present by claiming that I would be working and unable to make it home for the weekend, I went instead to watch the Albion play Birmingham (seeing Ian Chapman making his debut). Do I fell any sense of guilt, absolutely not, I was saved the expense and bother of dressing up like a penguin and sitting around with a load of boring old farts at a ladies night for an organisation that I want absolutely nothing to do with.

In your case it is a little harder to call, being that it is a family celebration, mind you as he didn't even invite you to the wedding I suggest you take my lead...

Sod the ethical posts advocating familial harmony - you are a BHAFC fan and you don't care about bogus wedding 'bliss'.

Your bro will still be married after the party, you can bring him over a 24-pack of beers any-old-time and have a banter about how lovely his wife is and all those niceties.

If I was in this situation, I would feel uncomfortable going to the party if I wasn't invited to the wedding. Besides, football is always more entertaining anyway!

Me thinks there is more to this than meets the eye.

If you did not get an invite because you were a bad boy then this may be the oppo to build some bridges.

Alternatively, your brother may be a complete tosspot and it could be an easy choice going to the footie.

Why on earth is he not inviting you to the wedding?
