Just a quick question to anyone thats in the know......

How do I get songs for free?

We do have a pc with livewire and Itunes on...so is there a way off transfering all my livewire songs i want onto itunes..if so how?

I also hear that this can end up deleting all your currant songs if you try doing it this way?

Does anyone do this cheapo gypsies option of getting songs?

no....your current songs will be overwritten if you have a different version of itunes......and then synch...ie it synchs what you have in your itunes library.

How did you get your current songs on to you ipod?

no mate....

Dont download straight on to itunes directory. Do it the way I said above. It will save you a hell of a lot of hassle.

Your ipod will ony store music in your library

With regards to songs on it...have a look on Apple's IPOD site...to trasfer those songs on to your HD and then copy them into the itunes

You are right, the moment you synch, it will; only synch the songs in your itunes, anything else on the ipod will be deleted

I understand....get the songs from limewire.....put onto hard-drive....then play them in itunes and bang....its all free..correct?

The only songs that wont get deleted each time I do it...is the songs that arnt in my itunes....so does that mean the ones i have downloaded off livewire..but have played through itunes will be deleted...the next time I go into do this?

No.....

When you download from limewire, the song sits on your hard disk somewhere.

When you click on it and it plays in itunes, itunes creates a link to that song to the directory its kept and also copies it into the library ( that is why if you delete the place where you download from LW, you will get a mesasage that itunes cant find the original)

Your itunes library will have songs in it you have downloaded from a CD ( ie ripped) from istore at £0.79p a song and also from kazaa, limewire etc etc. You can also get podcasts from BBC etc etc...again you set this up to go directly to your itunes.

When you "synch" your ipod, it looks at your ipod and looks at your itues and matches ipod to itunes...

if you have stuff on your ipod that is not on your itunes, when you "synch" they wilkl be removed, BUT if you chose not to synch you can do it manually ( read the apple site)....the problem here is that if you accidentally synch it will wip your stuff off your ipod not in itunes....

You will not lose the limewire stuff you have downloaded as it sits on your directory

Once you play songs in iTunes they get added to your library anyway, so will be put/kept on your iPod the next time you sync it. What you will lose, however, is any songs Beach Hut put on the iPod that you don't have in your library.

Nice one.....so i'll just have to write down the ones I like and just get them again!

Is this how every1 gets them free then?

So thats the way round getting free tunes!

Last question....cos im sounding as thick as pig-shit.

How come the song you downloaded doesnt play in limewire...thats the source it came from...just because Its been put on my hard-drive..I thought it would have gone and played through that!

Any particular place I should save or drag the songs into dave?

Thanks for your help on this it is much appreciated!

Limewire isn't designed to be a music player, just a program to let you download stuff... you can play songs that you download through it but they are just mp3s or whatever format so Limewire wont try to play them. If I were you I would create a folder on your hard drive called "Music" "Limewire music" or whatever and set that as the default download point for all limewire music. Then when you want to update the songs in iTunes you only need to do a couple of things

1) make sure that the 'copy added files to my music' option in iTunes is ticked. I can't remember off the top of my head where it is but I think it's in options or preferences or something like that.
2) click on 'file' 'add folder to library' and then browse to the folder you've created.
