Looks like I lost/ had lifted my bank card yesterday at sainsburys sometime after 12:30.

Just happened to spot that the card had gone around 11 ish this morning.

Checked the bank account and 250 went last night at cost cutters Pelham road ATM and this morning at 10:30 at Melville road bank of Ireland another 250 thieved.

Luckily HSBC are brilliant and have refunded the money straight away, but it makes you sick to the stomach knowing someone has stolen money out of your account.

Luckily the police know where at at what time the card was used and hopefully the scumbag doing this will be caught from CCTV.

Bastards

I was once told that an ATM photographs the person drawing the money not sure if that is true. Many years ago I drew some money in Lavender Hill London and couldn't remember doing it and disputed it when my statement came out but Nat West said that it was definitely me and they had a photo to prove it

They were probably watching you in the Supermarket. It does happen.

Great you got the money refunded though, fair play to the bank.

Did you use it yesterday?.....they could have been looking over your shoulder.

Yes, I used it in sainsburys to buy petrol....I was racking my brains to think if someone was close ehind me or using a phone to record me putting my number in....

Couple of years ago the staff of a BP Garage in Lightwater Surrey were prosecuted as they had a CCTV for security but another camera trained on the key pad of the card reader machine and it filmed all transactions. If you used the card in any establishment you wouldn't know if that was happening.

The biggest problem, is that most numeric key pads are laid out in the same format so it easy to watch somebody and guess fairly accurately their pin number by their finger movement.

I might be paranoid but I've got in the habit of keying in the number with my left hand whist covering it with my wallet. I also have perfected putting the pin in with three fingers so even if watching it would be almost impossible to see the number.

The police also said there are machines doing the rounds that can read the data on the cards...from now on I will make sure my hands cover the reader and stand over the machine.....
