Yet again a Local FM Frequency lost.
Have seen the decline in the station over the last 5 years and you could see it was coming.
It was created for the community and very raw from the start and really enjoyed it and even the last few years because it has kinda kept the local Sussex vibe but this will be lost now.
Reverb will be next in about 10 years. Seems impossible now but seemed the same with Juice back in the day.

Never listened, was it the usual Spirit FM sort of gash ?

I don't understand how a station that started as a local and independent one can become a corporate non event like it seems to be heading towards - surely the original licence was issued for the local and independent reason? The best radio station in Brighton right now is 1BTN, excellent music with local specialist DJ's

The Global machine took over the old XFM, which played decent indie type music.
Rebranded as Radio X, it's a pile of poo, unless you're listening late at night, where they play the decent stuff.
During the day it's Chris Moyles and Johnny Yawn.

What would you want to hear on a local Brighton radio station?
BBC Radio 2 and Heart have the music so what do you want that's different. But remember, six hours of two tone music and an hour of punk will not get the advertisers on board.

Radio Reverb isn’t a commercial station, it earns no money and pays no staff, why would it ever be lost?

All this.

Aside of stations like Reverb the whole local radio thing is dead, gone. Thankfully stations like that can step in. But they need to step up.

I'm happy to pay a subscription to keep groups like Reverb on air but they do need to widen their community content and have more local talk shows etc.

That's not a criticism as I am encouraged by what they do and wish them success.

I'm old fashioned really. I pine for the days of Radio Brighton. I just don't know if the public have the appetite anymore.

I don’t listen to local radio for anything other than post match interviews on the way home from an evening game.

I cant stand local radio presenters especially when they talk about he Albion.

I used to car share to work and the girl would have heart on every morning with that utter bell end jack the lad. What a complete and utter hampton that bloke is.
