Long Sault, actually....
Conspiracy theory time.

Do any NSC'ers remember Oliver North and the US backed Contra's against Daniel Ortega in the 80's. Some of you might not even be old enough.

However one person on this very board has been backing Ortega's own Sandinista Front party from the very beginning, by subliminally getting the "Vote Sandinista" message across to everyone on the board (mainly throught the Word Association thread)............

I give you NSC's very own Juan Albion.

Is Juan who he says he is.? Are we sure that he's not masquerading as a rebel.? How many of you have seen Juan Albion and Daniel Ortega in the same room.?

I think we should be told. ;)

I think a Sandinista victory is good for most people in Nicaragua. Ortega himself, though, is another matter. Little mention has been made about the accusations of incest against him, although these have never been tested in a court of law.

The reason I put 'Vote Sandinista' is because I spent ten days in some of the poorest parts of Nicaragua talking to the common people, including the indigenous tribes. The general concensus was that the Sandinistas, although by no means perfect, at least tried to do something for the poorest citizens and were the average guy's best hope.

Something to think about: average ANNUAL salary in Nicaragua - about $360 US. The last president earned approximately $19,000 a MONTH (drawing one salary as president, another as ex-vice-president), claiming he needed that much to support his wife's habit at the local casino. Knowing Ortega, though, he won't be giving up the big salary in a hurry.
