Human nature is to justify your choices with all sorts of wriggles and rationalisation (just ask anyone in jail). His main job is to try and quieten his conscience over his material wants. Wonder how that pans out. Some people go the way of Ronaldo and Henderson, others the way of Mata and Ramos (also v well paid of course but considerably less than the Saudi amounts). I'm actually not going to judge him as I don't live in a glass greenhouse. But I do hope he gets relentlessly booed by fans if he plays for England again! Agree he should take the money and stfu rather than spout nonsense.

Whenever anyone says "it's not about the money", you know that it's about the money.

Henderson is clearly trying to push his narrative that's at odds with the truth, but one that conveniently assuages his conscience.

It's not so much sitting on the fence, but more trying to be on different sides of the fence simultaneously.

Gary Neville was skewered by Ian Hislop on HIGNFY about his decision to take the Qatar money whilst trying to enact 'change'.

Henderson deserves the same. As a footballer, he should know that he can't play for two teams at the same time.

It’s a bit hypocritical to pretend to be LGBTQ+ friendly, celebrate pride month - yet decide to take the team to a place that don’t hold those same values.

Would they take the women’s team there for a camp for example? I know England did (once)

It’s not as bad clearly but from a human rights viewpoint it’s not a lot better . Miss a mortgage payment or bounce a cheque and it’s prison . Don’t be fooled by the nice hotels.
