To be pedantic this joke would mean nothing to Germans as no doubt their translation for the noise of a horse's hooves will be completely different.

For instance when a German spills something or falls over he says not "Ooops!" but "Yyps!". A fart is "ein Furz" (sounds more lifelike). A journey is however "ein Fahrt". So "Have a Good Journey" translates to "Haben Sie ein guter Farht".. endless source of laffs.

A lake over by Shöneberg on the Polska border is Die Fahrt. OTOH, the closest thing to a smelly body of water in all of Germany. It is on the Polish border.
