I'm going to go out and shoot somebody I don't like, wait for the police and tell them I'm John Terry, then before you know it I'll be at home with my feet up in front of the fire reading Nuts.

Abort, retry, fail
Being completely impartial as I have no feelings towards the odious ****, I think it was wrong to rescind the decision. He was the last man between Jo and the goal and he made no effort to make a legitimate tackle. His sole intention was to foul him and prevent a potential goalscoring opportunity.

. He was the last man between Jo and the goal . .

Wrong, there were two other Chelsea players more goalside than him

I cannot believe I am defending this Chelsea dick but by the letter of the law the ref f***ed it up completely but because it's John Terry everyone on here is up in arms. If it had been just about any other defender most of you would say the reprieve was correct I reckon

Irrespective of whether or not he was the last man it was a cynical professional foul which to my mind should equal an automatic red card. Would they have let one of our defenders off had it been one of them committing the foul, simple answer No but the premiership fat cats are bigger than the laws of the game.

He didn't get it wrong though, did he. He was sent off for serious foul play which means "uses excessive force or brutality against an opponent when challenging for the ball when it is play". Now surely a rugby tackle is excessive force? Doesn't matter if it was Terry or Ferdiand or Elphick, its still serious foul play.

I hate this phrase "professional foul" - that almost tries to make it sound justified.
Just call it for what it is

foul now goes TOTALLY unpunished. Surely they should be able to overturn the red but say it's now a yellow!

Think about it... a player is sent off INCORRECTLY, now what happens to that team for the rest of the match?

That team is forced to play with one less player due to a error by an official, which could cost them the match, title, euro cup spot. So the player or team are hardly TOTALLY unpunished. Perhaps the offical should receive "punishment".

Yes it did look as though Carvalho could of got back and that would obviously mean it was not a goal scoring opportunity, and perhaps he wasn't the last man. However the rules also state it can be given for serious foul play, no it wasn't a reckless challenge, but it was a deliberate attempt to hold him back from getting into a goal scoring opportunity. I don't know if anyone saw MOTD2, they had Hull's manager Phil Brown and he said it he thought it was the right decision.

He wasn't trying to play football, that was a rugby tackle...the FA should press more serious charges that he was trying to impersonate a footballer, regardless of what he was actually sent off for...chelski...cheatski more like!

It's crazy. The rulebook talks about serious foul play as being disproportionate force... I'd say dragging him to the ground using his arms is disproportionate use of his arms. It's at the very least on these grounds a yellow card offence, so the suspension should stand. Whether it's because he's England captain, or merely because he plays for one of the big 4, he's got away with it.

Surely EVERY foul is cheating then???

It wasn't a red card - get over it. How many players know they've been beaten for pace and will gently tug someone back?? It's a common foul, yellow card - end of.

Agree he should now have a yellow card against him however.

It wasn't a gently tug back, it wasn't even a grab of his shirt, he put his whole arm around him to bring him down, almost a rugby tackle (albeit a soft one).
