John Terry and employment guidelines

Given the amount of crap being talked on here regarding Terry and the Engerlund skippers role, this is the guidance issued by ACAS

"In certain cases, for example in cases involving gross misconduct,
where relationships have broken down or there are risks to an
employer’s property or responsibilities to other parties, consideration
should be given to a brief period of suspension with full pay whilst
unhindered investigation is conducted. Such a suspension should
only be imposed after careful consideration and should be reviewed
to ensure it is not unnecessarily protracted. It should be made clear
that the suspension is not considered a disciplinary action".


Removing the armband from Terry is entirely consistent with this approach and is IMO one of the few examples of the football world behaving in a way I would regard as consistent with normal employment practice.

or removing him altogether until after trial, as they did with bowyer & woodgate

To be honest, terry should have stood down himself, as he should have known that this would overshadow footballing matters. Let's face it, no England captain should ever be booed by his own fans like he has been at Wembley. Whilst I think he is an odious excuse of a man, with history showing what lengths he has gone to to protect his own reputation at any cost, his refusal to stand aside forced the FA to take matters into their own hands. As they are Capellos manager, he doesn't have to like their decision, but has to respect it..
Let's face it, we were never gong to win the Euros under Capello, so now we are in a no lose position. Let Pearce step up in the shor term, until the new man gets chosen.
As for Terry.....well I hope that justice is done and he never wears an England shirt again.
