As far as I am concerned he was the last of the proper comentators, there is simply no one that compares in the media today, the likes of all the current comentators are simply not even in the same league

The whole way matches are now "called" is not comentatry, its simply a couple of people waffling on about almost anuything other than the actual match. a lot of the time unless its the percieved big clubs, comentators barley know the players names

RIP to a true legend, I doubt his like will come again

Like others have said, he was a large part of my football experience from my youth to old age. The image of him in his sheepskin coat, microphone in hand in the snow shower immediately came to mind. Great commentator. Thank you Motty.

An example to all those commentators who show such obvious bias. He just commented on the games with knowledge, a quirky sense of humour and passion and I never noticed any bias towards one of the teams.
