High up on the South Downs.
As far as I can remember, Lynch was injured at the start of the season. Hawkins played well in the first handful of games, certainly nothing to warrant dropping. Lynch was recalled as a sub and then proceeded to throw a hissy fit and demand a transfer. In fact, I am pretty sure that we were unbeaten with The Hawk in the line up for the first five or six matches.

A re-writing of history that would bring plaudits from Uncle Joe Stalin!

Allegedly Hawkins played well at Crewe for the first game of the season ( I won't argue as I wasn't there ), after that he was a complete cart horse. Adams booted out Lynch despite a good performance ( for 90 minutes not as a sub when the amiable but useless Hawk was injured ) in order to protect himself. As usual, it didn't take much to get our worthy fans to turn on a home-produced player. No wonder Grant Hall wants away!

If he moves the only rumour I have heard is that Millwall were interested. Would he want to come back here to compete with Greer/elAbd/Dunk/Elphick after what happened under Adams?
Apparently Millwall's interest was ended a while back once they discovered how much he was after. Wouldn't have thought we'd be willing to pay him a great deal more, tbh.

Seen him about 3 or 4 times around town recently but never plucked up the courage to ask him whether the rumours are true. They sound pretty strong so fingers crossed he will be heading back to the Albion... Just not so sure about him heading back as our Left Back.

There's plenty on here live locally and work in London. Who's to say Lynch wouldn't do the same?

I'm not so sure.

According to Soccerbase, the only 90 minutes Lynch played (before he left) was against Northampton and he played the whole 90 minutes with the Hawk.

Soccerbase suggest we were unbeaten with Hawkins in the team for the first six games. I do remember Lynch breaking down with an injury at the end of pre-season.

A little research suggests Hawkins was scoring highly according to our fans...

vs Barnet - Player ratings vs Barnet - 8s and 7s

vs Bristol Rovers - Player Ratings vs Bristol - 6s

vs Southend - Player Ratings vs Southend - 7s and 8s

He lost it against Scunthorpe. Lynch replaced him and then handed in a transfer request.

You're right that Lynch only played against Northampton. Tommy Elphick replaced Hawkins when he was dropped/injured. You can still read the match reports/line ups on the official site. Matt Richards was playing LB for us then.

Lynch threw his toys out of the pram when he was played left back and wasn't in the team as much as he'd have liked.

After seeing him a few times this season I'm not too fussed about us signing him. A good centre half but no better than Greer/El-Abd-Dunk and always looks like he can make a mistake on the ball.

No idea how good Lynch is but is he better than Vincelot?

Must be a new fan then if you never knew Lynch's ability.

I thought Lynch was quality for us but at times he did think he was better then the rest of the players, his potential was bigger then us at the time but for now he'd be much better then what we've got, I'd have Lynch back.

We don't need another centre back who is no better than what we already have and he's not a LB. The way he left is a big minus imo, so I can't really see the point in signing him unless we really can't get a decent quality specialist left back, which would lend credence to El Pres suggesting that we haven't got a very big budget this year.

Sounds a bit strange. If he has indeed sold his house to buy one in Brighton so that he can come and play with us, has he done so before signing for us? You'd expect there to be a good few weeks between getting a new job and then selling your existing house and buying a new one near your new job.

I know the official site can be slow sometimes, but not that slow!

I did put this out there when we failed to get Mattock, but no one picked up on it. Lynch was very close to coming back on loan in Jan but it never happened.
