Quite how anyone can criticise the clubs community activities is beyond me.

I'm lucky enough to have grown up in a time when football clubs were considered part of a community first rather than multi-million pound international entertainment businesses.

We may be a small league one club at the moment, but the community side of the club is Premier League.

The fact that this club (even after the recent investment) is still bucking the trend and investing is this area is something to be hugely proud of and I have absolutely no problem whatsoever in ex-players getting involved.

Good work by the club. All these ex players working with kids will increase our profile in the community and increase our chances of finding another Gareth Barry within the Sussex youth.

Doesnt this show what a special club we are ? Cullip, Butters, Oatway.....wonderful players for our club, and now involved in the future of what will be an extraordinary period in the clubs history. Brilliant !

Who could argue with this statement --I too feel honoured to have these former players on board.

Seconded. Thirded. Doesn't it show what this club means to all these ex-players that they want to put something back.

God forbid, we become a club where ex-players are forgotten about as soon as the P45 hits their doormat.

well done to Danny, and the club for bringing him aboard. It proves that playing for this club is much more than just a job...

Great news!

This is something that's big in Aussie Rules football in so far as having ex players being around the club and being involved.

It helps build a far better club spirit and when young players come to the club they feel a bit of history about the place as the older players give the vibe it's a good place to be around.

It also can't do any harm in trying to sell the club to prospective new players; especially those nudging - or the wrong side of - 30.

My son woke me up last night to tell me "weve signed Danny Cullip!"

even though the guy is undoubtedly an Albion legend, my immediate reaction was, what the f*** do we want him for, then i thought oh he must be part of the coaching or something

Excellent move for both Danny and the Albion imho

this bit made me PROUD to be a BHA fan and follow such an incredible club:

PFA executive Dave Palmer said: “We are very aware of what Albion are doing for their local community and they are one of the top clubs in terms of both community activity and involvement of former players.

“The PFA is keen to champion more former player involvement at clubs up and down the country and Brighton have provided a fantastic blueprint.”

I bet Kerry's made the call already.

Now THAT is a great idea!

I love the fact that our club does involve ex-players in a positive role (not just greeting and seating a la Chelsea). Wouldn't it be great to see a loyal servant suitably rewarded and perhaps give him the opportunity to finish his coaching badges and help him on the way to a new career.

Who's going to be next?

Reckon Harty will be on the turnstyles from next season. Mayo looks like he could cook a mean hotdog and a combination of Phil Stant and Warren Aspinall managing the stewards?
