Job Interviews - revolting

I had a job interview today where I described myself as "team-focused". I actually said that. Those words actually came out of my mouth.

Normally, I wouldn't give the time of day to the sort of person who uses terms like that.

I think job interviews bring out the worst in people.

Discuss.

Customer-focussed, horizon-scanner, proactive, self-starter, task-oriented, blue-sky thinker, identify quick-wins, get your team on-board; I have used them all and I have got the jobs in my last 5 interviews. My soul has been sold.

The key was when I became an interviewer myself and got to know how the game works. The self-descriptive word that flashes through my mind when I am spouting this crap would not work well in an interview situation.

"Strategic Focus" and "Leveraging IT to enhance the companies productivity" have been my favorites while looking for a new job. And ive bagged one :D

'Leveraging' is an excellent one; impressive, but suitably vague.

I have never not got a job i've been for. Got through a first interview at Morgan Stanley the other day. I love interviews because you can paint the picture of yourself you want and make up bullshit examples - they don't know anything better! You can sound the best person in the world but actually be a pile of shit as they may soon find out!!! :p

yeah, selling your soul and your labour (for a price less than you are monetarily worth to the company) is disgusting. join the revolution and fight the power.
