It wasn’t the first penalty he’s missed! Thanks all. I was hoping that his record could be preserved, but seems not.
Oh well, the important thing is he scored.
My mistake then - ta. Still a great record all the same.It wasn’t the first penalty he’s missed!
Tbf, it was a while ago, and in Brazil. It was his first miss in England though! My mistake then - ta. Still a great record all the same.
To me, to you. What a player. Even plays a one/two with the keeper before nodding in.
To you, to me?S
Surely that should be....
To me, to me.
Maybe due to his injury? Not included in the Brazil squad for the Copa America next month.
Lack of recent game time I would thinkMaybe due to his injury?
Perhaps not the worst news for Brighton fans.
Good. He can get some rest ready for next season. Not included in the Brazil squad for the Copa America next month.
He could have had a goal of the season contender with one of his mazy runs last night. Once we get Mitoma fit and playing well, then this should free up even more space for Joao Pedro. And we can keep him in the centre. His assist last night makes it 23 goal or assist involvements for the season in 39 games - a goal involvement every 115 minutes. And the assist stats obviously don’t include the fact he won a large % of the penalties he scored.
To put that in context, Gross who won our POTS and understandably gets a lot of plaudits for his goals and assists as well as general play, has had 18 goal involvements in 46 games this season, or a goal involvement every 223 minutes.
What a stunning debut season from our Brazilian superstar!
That was so close to incredible. Mitoma like in keeping possessionHe could have had a goal of the season contender with one of his mazy runs last night. Once we get Mitoma fit and playing well, then this should free up even more space for Joao Pedro. And we can keep him in the centre.
He's certainly my player of the season
Only one of the Guardian's end of season lists where we feature. At 3-1 up against your fiercest rivals and with the match already won, it is nice to add a little bit of gloss and fully confirm who is the superior team. João Pedro knew what he wanted to do once he picked up the ball around 40 yards from the Palace goal, driving forward and looking to play a one-two with Danny Welbeck, in the hope his teammate would be able to find his bursting run into the box. What the Brazilian might not have expected from his fellow striker was for the through ball to be an instinctive reverse pass, hit with the inside of his right foot while off balance, right into the path of Pedro, who calmly slotted past Dean Henderson before wheeling away in celebration. Both Jack Hinshelwood and Carlos Baleba sprinted to congratulate Welbeck on the assist rather than the goalscorer.
Agreed, he's an utter delight, and his running on and off the ball is staggering but, to reach the heights, he needs to improve his finishing from open play. Yesterday's effort was just one of many that the top strikers would have buried.Still has to go some to become the finished product. Needs to score more from open play
Tbf, pre injury Pedro would've scored a few in recent games. He's not up to speed yetAgreed, he's an utter delight, and his running on and off the ball is staggering but, to reach the heights, he needs to improve his finishing from open play.
