Signed a one year deal, Cardiff could be a dark horse this season.

they'll probably need to get promoted, otherwise there could be serious money issues

surely the FA must look into this. They must have realised with the mistakes he made at Leeds that they need to keep an eye on him.

They can't stick their noses into a company's affairs.

Anyway, he has it all under control...

Peter Ridsdale hits back in Cardiff lawsuit row
By Jeremy Wilson
Last Updated: 12:09am BST 16/08/2007

Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale last night insisted that the Championship club had a "cast iron" case in response to a £30 million legal action which has been launched by a Swiss investment company.

Langston, who claim to be Cardiff's "principal financial backers", issued a writ on Tuesday for the alleged breach of a loan agreement and, through the law firm Hextalls, released a statement which questioned the management of the club.

Ridsdale said he was "stunned" by the development, and was ready to produce a signed letter which, he said, proved that Langston were not due to be paid back until 2016.

The dispute surrounds £24 million worth of loan notes which were agreed with Langston by Cardiff in 2004, when Sam Hammam was the club's chairman. Langston are demanding payment of the loan, plus interest, amid claims that "the club's chairman ignored repeated communications regarding the seriousness of the financial situation".

Ridsdale described that allegation as "nonsense" and said he had been in regular contact with Hammam, who is understood to have acted as a middle-man between Cardiff and Langston, until around 10 days ago. The former Leeds chairman is adamant that only £15 million is outstanding to Langston, and that all interest until March 1 2007 was written off.

"In October 2006 this agreement was amended to £15 million, with £9 million written off in exchange for naming rights on the new stadium," Ridsdale said. "We have documents seen by the club's lawyers. As far as we are concerned, there is no requirement for any other payment until 2016."

Ridsdale is adamant that Cardiff remain in "robust" financial health. "They [Langston] are not shareholders and to the best of my knowledge we have the confidence of shareholders," he said. "They [the shareholders] have been very complimentary about the way we have run things. We have been transparent, and we have paid off debts that we inherited. We made a profit in the year ending May 2006, and the internal forecast for next year is that we are making a profit."

In conjunction with Cardiff City Council, the club have raised £58 million for a new, 25,000-seat stadium which is due to open in 2009. Ridsdale is confident that the threat of legal action will not affect that project.

Cardiff City Council yesterday said the stadium was not in jeopardy. "The money from the disposal of the retail park is in the bank, so the revenue necessary to build the two stadia is in place, which is the primary concern of the council," a spokeswoman said.

Is he past it?? Fowler and Hasselbank on paper looks an awesome front two for the championship but I doubt they will live up to their potential especially when the supply line is gash.

I thought they played some pretty neat football the other night and in the first half especially, it was their FINISHING that let them down.

Fowler & Hasselbaink up front could cause HAVOC in The Championship, as long they stay fit and motivated

To be fair though that was against us and we're not Championship standard.
