Did anyone else listern to the pair on Jeremy Vine,s lunchtime show ? The guest were partners deaf, with one deaf child and if they had another through IVF wanted that child to be deaf. Maybe i am wrong ? However found it to be disturbing.:bigwave:

They might want it to be deaf so they can actually communicate with it effectively - remember that British sign language does not have much to do with spoken/written English - they'd forever have a different native language to the child...

i heard that as well leabrook.

my first thought was how do deaf people listen to the radio? i mean, we get those sign people on the TV but how for the radio?

was the man really called Tomato? i missed the beginning but heard vine say the interpreter is now talking for Tomato but wasn't sure if that was code.

and personally i think it is exceptionally selfish to inflict an impairment on your child, by choice.

They can't listen to the radio, but there is a text radio being developed.

It seems that in effect they are stating that they would not be able to communicate/bond with a hearing child. When you think that some people are unable to have children, yet they want to select a child with a hearing impairment..? What next? Blonde and blue eyed children? :nono:
