The Brazilian guy who was shot on the tube ran when challenged, jumped over a ticket barrier and jumped on a tube train. In context with what happened previously I'm surprised he wasn't shot earlier. This is not a computer game where you restart when you fail!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record. NO HE DIDN'T! I didn't plan to get involved in this thread, was just browsing, but why do people stick to 'what they've heard' rather than the widely published facts?

That part where the copper was having a slash so they couldn't get video is the reason they were unable to get confirmation that he was not the man they wanted. They f-ed up big time.

John McDonnell, Labour's shadow chancellor, called for MI5 and the UK's armed police force to be scrapped in a controversial campaign letter.
A picture has emerged showing Mr McDonnell holding the letter earlier this year, despite claims that he had never seen or signed it.

In a tweet accompanying a picture of him holding the list of demands Labour's shadow chancellor said the campaign: "Is important for ensuring a clear program of socialist demands on a Labour government".

However, the Sun then produced a picture of McDonnell holding what appears to be the document, based on a comparison with the campaign material on the SCLV website.

I have 4 mates over in Australia at the moment and all 4 have overstayed their Visas because they like the life over there and enjoy working there. I would hate to think they would all come home with bullets in their head because they were working hard and enjoying the lifestyle in Australia

Corbyn essentialy doubled the Labour party membership. It clearly indicates a lot of people were not happy with the direction Milliband and co were heading.,. Corbyn will be vilified no matter what he says and does. It's a pretty sad state of affairs in politics where you get more overall respect for lying, conforming or going against your own beliefs.

Of course with hindsight he should not have been shot...And of course many overstay their Visas..but when country on terrorist alert..I believe his lack of response to police demands led to his shooting.

That very unfair on the poor guy. He had no reason to think armed police were going to challenge him and had minimal time to respond before they put a bullet in his head. A tragic incident but one in which you cannot lay any blame whatsoever on de menezes.

Yes he has a clear mandate from Labour party members (400k) but I was talking about Labour voters (millions). You'd have thought if his red blooded Socialist message would work anywhere it would work in Scotland. Instead recent polls show SNP still miles ahead and the TORIES actually gaining ground on Labour. There is even a chance Labour could finish third next election.

The Tory section of the press were always going to go for a character like Corbyn but he has helped their cause by making several monumental gaffes. Any reasonable person can see he is clearly not up to the job.

Me too! Cameron is possibly taking a hit because of the tax credit cock up (rightly so) but governments normally lose support in the first years as they push through all the painful policies. Your link also shows the Conservatives have a very healthy lead over Labour so I doubt the PM will be that worried.

I think so many people do not trust Labour after their 13 years in power before. The economy, immigration being high up on voters priorities, where Labour did rather badly.
I think that Milliband was a weak and bad choice, i assumed they would get a decent leader in to replace him. Unfortunately they went for Jeremy.

Maybe JC should engage with the terrorists....with Diane Abbott in tow, that could do the trick. Explain that they will be ok because he will implement a "non shoot to kill policy" which might give them a chance to detonate themselves, oh and add for good measure that the Trident deterrent might have the button locked because he will have no intention of pushing it.
