I think that there are two important points here

1, Jeremy Clarkson is much trumpeted as a " Man of the People" "One Of Us" and is credited quite often for stating controversial "White Van Man" opinions.

2, Gordon Brown is a politician and as such, cannot defend himself or respond and is regarded as a soft target.

So in effect, Clarkson has been shooting fish in a barrel and will get away Scot free, excuse the pun. Its quite funny that people actualy started a petition to make him Prime Minister but he would not have lasted a day in the job.

Calling someone one eyed when they only have one eye is not offensive. Much like calling someone with Down's Syndrome (like my brother, before anyone decides to post a certain HILARIOUS picture) 'someone with Down's Syndrome' isn't either.
