As the teams are all ready working on next season, who do you think McLaren should announce as their number one driver?

For me its Button all the way , out performed Lewis all year and is the better driver over a whole season

Jenson is by all accounts a decent fella. Hamilton has his head and his car up his rectum.

Jenson is more an intelligent driver, If you could give him just a little of Hamiltons Aggression, you'd have a world class champion!

Jenson for me no question!

hamilton is quicker than button, not by the margin alot of people thought, but he is

can't argue with stats, but when prost and senna were together at mclaren, prost actually beat senna in terms of points, but senna was clearly the quicker man, same case here

Personally I like Jenson better than Lewis - I think the sometimes Hamilton definitely shows his young ago and would throw his toys out of the pram if he could.

BTW - They've been working on next seasonn for a long time already, approximately since just after this season started.

Button it Jenson!

Button is the better driver and more consistant, Hamilton faster and more aggressive but more prone to mistakes IMHO.

Jenson to have the number 3 on his car next year and Lewis number 4. As far as the "number one driver" position goes, its non-existent. McLaren have treated Lewis and Jenson equally ever since they became team mates, unlike Red Bull and Ferrari with their favouritism for Vettel and Alonso respectively. Sure Jenson probably had a better season, but next season Lewis will regain his form and out perform Button.

Jenson, he's a better driver imo. This has probably stemmed from his progression through the sport, and getting more driving experience in different situations. Hamilton has been mummied too much, and had it all given to him.

Jenson showed the right aggression when needed at canada last year(the best race ever?) and in brazil to win the world title.
I think i Lewis had some of Jenson's patience he could be the world beater people think he is. IMO Hamilton can only drive the nuts off the car and makes wrong decisions too often.

Jenson at the moment, his Canada drive was awesome, but think Lewis could learn a lot from him & be the better racer eventually.

Not strictly true, Jenson came straight in from British F3, whereas Hamilton did Euro F3 and a couple of years in F3000/GP2. I think Jenson may have actually been younger than Hamilton was when he started in F1 with Williams (I could be wromg). Button has admitedly had dogs of cars to deal with with Renault and Honda, which certainly has given him the more experience etc. Hamilton came straight in to a potential title winning car and has been pretty much at the front since then.

Button drives with his head, and Hamilton with his heart. Mclaren effectively have the perfect team. If they could give them a really good car, net year could be a cracker.

Lewis Hamilton is the reason I started watching F1, Jenson will only ever be a tag along.

Not being picky, but I thought McLaren had a policy of not having a number one driver. Of course one driver will have the number 3 car, as opposed to 4, but McLaren have been very even with their driver in recent years. It was probably this that cost them the title when Raikonnen won in 2007.

Exactly, they won't announce a no.1.

Jenson and Lewis's season reflected their relative ages and experiences I think. Jenson was solid, drove some superb races judging when to push at the right times, and often did well toward the end of a grand prix as he is careful and gets the best from his tyres. Given how quick the Red Bulls were and how fast Alonso generally was, his second place was a very good finish. All that said, for raw pace and aggression, no one can touch Lewis can they. Clearly he just needs everything in his life, the background stuff, the car to all be in harmony for him to be a serious title contender. He showed some real frailties last season, but also some moments of brilliance.
