Usually it would make no commerical sense, but in this case you have the current world champion, the former world champion and if McLearn sorts their car out for the start of the season, the next world champion as well.

Apparently it is something vodafone (McLaren's main sponsor) are keen on. Therefore, I can see it happening if Brawn can't afford to keep Button.

McLaren supposedly have a policy of equal treatment until one driver is significantly ahead of the other (i.e 20ish points, or when only one driver can mathematically win).

Button and Hamilton all at McLaren is a British dream team that everyone could only dream of, and going by McClarens car towards the end of this season, it could be great next year after a bit of a blip of a season

Brawn have already got a new major sponsorship in place for next season, as you say Virgin are off out to the Manor Team (think that was the name).

not sure how much to read into this - mclaren could have released the story in an attempt to get kimi to hurry up and decide whether he wants to join the team but pointing out they are exploring other options, jenson's people could have put the story out in an attempt to get brawn to make more of an effort to keep their world championship winning driver

if its true though, it should make next year very interesting - providing both drivers are treated equally of course, which is a pretty big if
