Without reading through 4 pages to see if someone else has already posted it, i'd just like to say that if you went to Glastonbury and didn't want to watch Jay Z why didn't you just watch Massive Attack instead?
Just seen Angel and Unfinished Sympathy on the I-Player and it looked absolutely AWSOME. No contest for me

It's 10 years since they recorded anything decent (Mezzanine), and the classics aren't worth hearing without Nelson, Thorn, Frazer etc.

Oh right, forgive me. I, along with thousands of others though 100th Window was a relatively decent album (although obviously not a good as their early stuff).
Can I also ask why just because a group hasn't released much material recently, they wouldn't be worth watching live? Try watching the clip on the highlights of day 2 on the I player and tell me they're not worth watching?
Because, like many others, I've seen it all before. And done better, with original singers.
I advised a mate not to bother with them on Saturday - and he had the balls to admit I was right. Said it was very disappointing.
I bet there aren't many people who saw Jay-Z who regret going. Even if they didn't actually like what they heard/saw, at least it was interesting.
PS I wouldn't advise going to see The Prodigy these days either. Tired.
100th Window is gash compared to the masterclass that is Mezzanine, IMO.

I was all along going to see the proclaimers headline the Avalon stage but the rest of the group I was with wanted to see what the hype was with Jay Z.
I can say although the entrance was quite comical everyone I was with was left very disappointed. So to the above comment I regret going, but hey its all about opinions .
Where I was stood there were alot of people leaving early which I did not see for the Verve or the Kings of Leon.
Highlights for me were the Ting Tings, Courteneers, Crowded House, Verve and an acoustic set by Carl Barat.
Personally on site the people I spoke to were left disappointed by Jay Z outnumbered those that enjoyed his set.

I didnt see any of the bands you mention but my highlights were Neon Neon, Foals, Last Shadow Puppets and of course Jay-Z.

Most people I spoke to on site were glad they saw him - even if it did go off the boil.
Anyway... The Verve, Elbow and Franz Ferdinand rocked my world. Also Leonard Cohen and Edwin Collins.

surprised to hear people say The Verve rocked, i thought they were dreadful, just The Richard Ashcroft Show. i enjoyed Life's An Ocean but that was it. love their early stuff (the first singles and Northern Soul era bsides are brilliant) but hate them now. i watched the full set but went back to the tent (up for 0530 to work) wishing i'd gone to see MMJ. and that new song with the monkey chants, jesus wept: such a waste of Mccabe's return. Richard, please go Mad again.

I like Jay-Z, but thought it was a really poor show. I expect that Noel Gallagher was actually pissing himself as he came on pretending to play guitar and the crowd all sung along to his song. The number of bizarre covers just proved to me that he was afraid of playing a proper rap gig.
That's bollocks I'm afraid. A full on hip hop show just wouldn't have worked on the main stage in front of that many people. He put on an entertaining show that the whole crowd could enjoy, not just fans of hip hop, and it's worked.
I don't see how anyone can think that Jay Z, who has made 11 solo albums in 12 years and is accepted in the game as one of the best mc's to have lived, would be afraid of playing a proper rap gig.
