Jason Roberts turned us down

I hear, from an impeccable source, that we offered Jason Roberts a two year deal plus some sort of "ambassadorial role" once he'd retired. Obviously he chose to go with Reading's Russian roubles instead.

By the seaside in West Somerset
would have been perfect for us short term

hopefully Vokes, if not as prolific, will be with us for longer

LOL, very easy to make something like that up (your source, not accusing you) without ever being proved wrong. Throw in a "signing" and you are proved wrong if it doesn't happen, but throw in a "turned us down" and even if we end up signing him, it'll just look like we went back in with a better offer.

I don't think Jason Roberts is the type of player Gus would of wanted here. He couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo, a bankrupt man Billy Paynter IMO.
Edited for greater accuracy.

Why would we offer an "ambassadorial role" to someone who has absolutely no connection to the club whatsoever?

Eh? Roberts signed for Reading on Friday and scored for them at the weekend.
Believe what you like. Where this came from is 100% reliable.

Roberts does a bit too much media for me, never off radio and Twitter and that can only end in tears when the sh*t hits the fan.

I am happy with Vokes, and have a good feeling about that signing leading to something permanent. He is the right type of player, and as he said himself, he knows it is time to settle to fulfil his potential.

Not sure Roberts and Poyet would have seen eye to eye on racism matters, given how Roberts is still festering about the Suarez/Evra thing on 606........might have been a factor, if this story is true?

I heard the ambassadorial role was to be the doorman on the 1901 club and involved wearing a snazzy uniform and a peaked cap.
That's why he turned us down.

This reads true, so it is either well researched fiction or it contains a grain of truth.

You're source can't be that impeccable as Jason Roberts was never offered anything. I'd sack your source lol!

He'll probably do ok for Reading this season but he's not got many years left and would be on big wages so I'm not disappointed that we haven't signed him.
