Tottenham just beat Vissel Kobe, who are fourth in J1 League, 3-2 courtesy of an 88th minute goal. So much for Japanese sides being a cakewalk.

The daily round up videos from the club are genuinely sensational. I've long said that the Albion social media content (bar Buzz' boot room) is absolutely shit compared to some other clubs but the Japan YouTube content is honestly quite brilliant. Seeing grown women cry at meeting our players is nuts.

Really really good stuff. Thoroughly recommended to anyone not watching.

Saving them for a marathon when the Japan tour is over but good to hear. Hopefully the content is going to be a bit better this season. Buzz Boot Room is rather fun but its not exactly Hollywood production levels.

Just had to edit my post as I'd missed out a word which suggested The boot room stuff isn't good. It really is (despite low budget), because it's just fun to see the players acting normally, rather than the corporate PR machine being rolled out with cliches. More stuff like Buzz and the Japan behind the scenes footage would be great. Even if Fabian does say "guys" after every sentence!

Yeah I really enjoy it. I really want to meet Buzz 🤣 He seems a good laugh.

Seen all the Japan videos and love Buzz's Bootroom. Highlight of Japan is when, after everyone has been getting carried away, they ask Karou if it's like this everywhere he goes and Danny answers 'yes it always like this when I'm in Sainsburys or Waitrose in Hove'

The fact they’re even sharing elements of the team meetings/team talks makes me wonder if Fabs been a bit more open/keen to share. Seems in keeping with his character

It's not that special. They cry every time when I try to talk to them...

Joking aside, the videos have been great. The most recent one, with the beatlemania is maybe my favourite. I know it's about Mitoma and not the Albion specifically but it warms my heart seeing so much Brighton presence here in Tokyo.

It was years and years before we even registered on even the most hardcore football fan out here so to see commercials on the trains about us, sports shops decked out with Albion gear, people walking around in Brighton shirts, thousands turning up to watch a training session is something truly incredible.

I know it won't last but I'm going to enjoy it while it does!

I'd love that.
There are a number of European clubs who have football schools out here. My dream is that one day we have a big enough presence here that we can have our own. Having regular Japanese representation in our squads would go a long way to achieving that. It's done Celtic no harm at all.

I see we rank high up on the list of PL clubs flying long distances for summer preseason. In the same BBC article:

'An estimated travelling group of 30 flying 12,864 air miles business class generates around 200 tonnes of CO2 - the equivalent of 500,000 miles driven by an average petrol car, or the entire annual emissions for a year of 16 people in the UK.'

I'm sure we'll plant a couple of saplings on the new fan zone site to offset this.

Japanese football is very, very strong right now at youth level and the European market will soon be flooded with Japanese talent. Hopefully Mitoma helps bring some of the best to Brighton. Currently it is extremely cheap to buy from Japan and this could be exploited until that inevitably will start to change.

Assuming we didn't charter a plane just for ourselves, wouldn't it flown there anyway so actually make no difference

I'm not surprised. Even the weakest kids at grassroots level have decent technique and the best one's are unbelievable. Once they combine that with, for want of a better descriptor, game knowledge they're going to be a real force. Especially as football is becoming more and more system based, something they excel at.

I just hope PB put a % sell on clause on all those shirts... should we ever sell Mitoma 😉

I had no idea some European clubs had football schools in Japan 👍
